The Volkswagen Golf Mk6 (or VW Typ 5K) is the successor to the Mk5, and was unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in October 2008.

Volkswagen released pictures and information on 6 August 2008, prior to the official unveiling. The vehicle was released to the European market in the winter of 2008. Major investment has been made in production efficiency, with a claimed productivity improvement at launch of nearly 20% in comparison with the previous model, and further gains planned for the next twelve months.

In Canada, the car will be sold as the Volkswagen Golf when it arrives in showrooms in early September 2009, dropping the "Rabbit" badge that was used for the Golf Mk5.

2009 Porsche Chayenne diesel

Emissions regulations are causing profound impacts on automakers these days, and Porsche is finally answering the call with a diesel model next year. The Stuttgart-based company is planning to offer a diesel powered version of its Cayenne SUV.

The choice of engine would most probably be a V6 borrowed from Audi, says UK auto industry analyst Peter Schmidt via Automotive News Europe. Other more powerful engines (V8, V10, and V12) were also considered, but eventually called off due to their heaviness.

New Saturn Aura (US) / Opel Vectra (Europe) - Share

New Saturn Aura (US) / Opel Vectra (Europe)

Shot during secret hot-weather testing in the U.S., these are the best pictures yet of the all-new Opel Vectra which is to replace the current model by the end of next year! The new Epsilon 2 platform will allow a wider and taller body than currently, which should mean more space inside for passengers – something that's vital in a class where machines such as VW's Passat have really upped standards. The wider stance should also mean an even more composed driving experience.

Almost undisguised for the first time are details of the newcomer's styling. Obviously, they will follow the Astra and Antara SUV with a bold front end and a radical fastback profile.

Another first will be the arrival of a 4WD version, while the wider engine range will include a 200bhp 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel, plus a development of the 2.8 V6 petrol. On sale in late 2008, the new Vectra should debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The Vectra will be available afterwards in the US as the Saturn Ar in 2010.

A higher-quality cabin will also be key to keeping the new model on terms with its rivals. And it's inside that the new Vectra will make the biggest leaps over the existing car. Flagship Vectras will get a system called Traffic Assist, which has an array of lasers and video cameras that scan the road ahead for warning signs, lane markings and other traffic – meaning the Opel will be the world's first 'driverless' car.

Opel Ampera - Share

Opel Ampera

Overview
While a lot of people are wondering whether the Volt and the Ampera will be roughly the same car, Opel is re-assuring people that the Ampera will not look like a Chevy. In fact, it will be taking a lot of it’s styling cues from one of my favorite cars, the Opel Insignia (pictured.)

Frank Weber, the Vehicle Line Executive for the Volt and the Voltec platform assued European drivers that the car would offer “the distinctive styling, dynamic efficiency, versatility and affordability European customers have come to expect from Opel.”

Of course, the Ampera and the Volt will be very simple. They’ll be built on the same basic architecture with the same basic drivetrain. They will both by five-seat hatchbacks and they will both have to be very aerodynamic (and thus, at least a little bit Prius-shaped.)
