2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S & Cabrio Spy Video Review

The 911 Turbo S features a boost of 30 bhp over the standard 911 Turbo, dialing horsepower up to 530 bhp (390 kW / 523 hp), while torque stays put at 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) including the overboost, 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) without.

Top speed is up just slightly (by 3 km/h) at 315 km/h or 195 mph. Fuel consumption also remains the same as the standard Turbo at 11.4 liters/100 km (24.8 mpg UK).

The next-generation Porsche 911 (998) Cabriolet is coming along quite nicely as these spy pictures will attest.

Taken during some hot weather testing the images show a slightly longer body made to increase rear seat space. The front end features 997-style headlights which are raised to meet safety regulations.

Expect to see radical changes to the rear lights where LED technology will be used. That massive camouflage rear spoiler won’t make production; it’s just there to hide the real deal.

The 911 Cabriolet is one of the most expensive and exclusive 911s in the range. As such very high technologies like the 7-speed PDK transmission and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) are to be employed. All performance indicators will be improved with the next-generation, including top speed, fuel economy, C02 emissions and handling.

Almost every 911 model in the current range has a Cabriolet version, from the Carrera up to the Turbo. The latter makes a heady 368kW (500hp) and does 0 – 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.

The second heart line begins at the rear edge of the door, swelling outwards and upwards to create a visually strong wheel arch, emphasizing the car’s rear-wheel drive layout, before dropping vertically through the tail lamp ...
