2013 Infiniti FX
Following a number of exterior and refinements just last year, the Infiniti FX performance crossover receives additional enhancements for the 2013 model year – lead by the addition of a 325-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 with VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift), replacing the previous 303-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. Now named the FX37, it is joined by the FX50 AWD, which once again features a standard 390-horsepower 5.0-liter VVEL V8 and Infiniti Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.
The other major enhancement for the new model year is the addition of the advanced Moving Objection Detection (MOD) to the Around View® Monitor system (standard on FX50, optional on FX37). Also offered on the all-new Infiniti JX luxury crossover, Moving Object Detection builds on the capabilities of the AVM system, which shows the driver a virtual 360-degree image of the area around the vehicle. The MOD function helps enhance the driver’s situational awareness by providing visual and audible warnings (front or back range object detection) if the system detects moving objects (such as another vehicle) within the displayed image in situations such as when pulling out of a parking space. Using sophisticated image processing technology, the system detects moving objects within the “top view” (when the vehicle is in Park). When starting off or backing up, it detects moving objects crossing within the front or rear views.
“The addition of Moving Object Detection to the advanced Around View® Monitor system is yet more proof of Infiniti’s ongoing technology leadership. With so many potential distractions for today’s drivers, having an extra set of ‘eyes’ when pulling into or out of a park space is a welcome feature,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “And, FX37 drivers will really appreciate the refined performance and feel of the 3.7-liter V6 with the advanced VVEL system.”
The 2013 FX, like all Infiniti new model purchases, also offers the Infiniti Personal AssistantSM, Infiniti’s personal concierge service with 24-hour access to a live team of professional assistants. The Infiniti Personal Assistant benefit, which is offered free-of-charge for the first four years, allows owners to make reservations, get directions, find points of interest, make dinner reservations, access gift services, answer trivia questions, and receive a wide variety of other services at the touch of a button from inside the vehicle or through the owner’s mobile or home phone.
