Q?Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)
A.

An Air Flow Sensor or Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) is one of the components of an electronic fuel injection system of a modern car or truck. A mass air flow sensor is installed inside the intake air duct between the air filter and the intake manifold of the engine.

A mass air flow sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine. Often an intake air temperature sensor (IAT) is also installed within the mass air flow sensor.

Q?AIR System (Air Injection Reaction System)
A.

A system aimed at reducing levels of hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide (CO) released through the exhaust by injecting air directly into each cylinder##Q##s exhaust ports during cold engine operation and injecting air directly into the catalytic converter during regular engine operation.

Q?Active pedestrian protection system
A.

An electronic system designed to warn drivers of impending pedestrian traffic.

Q?ABS override button / ABS relay valve
A.

ABS override button
– A button or switch which disengages the automatic anti-lock braking system so that the driver can operate the brakes himself. Electric controlled.

ABS relay valve
– An electrically controlled valve which modulates the air pressure in the anti-lock braking system.

Q?Accelerator pedal linkage
A.

The linkage between the accelerator pedal and a vehicles throttle body or carburetor

Q?Accelerator
A.

The gas pedal. Pilots and gear heads sometimes call this the “throttle.” Call it what you will, pressing down on it should encourage the vehicle to accelerate. This is the 3rd or 2nd pedal (automatic case).

Often an intake air temperature sensor (IAT) is also installed within the mass air flow sensor. There are few types of airflow sensors, however most of the modern cars use a hot-wire type.
