2007 Volkswagen Touareg V6 4dr SUV AWD
— Amazing SUV in the marketplace
The Volkswagen Touareg (pronounced Tour-regg) is a midsize SUV designed to provide rugged off-road ability as well as a refined everyday driving experience. At this mission it succeeds, as very few SUVs in the Touareg’s price range can match its go-anywhere ability or luxurious five-passenger interior.
Engineered to offer the same type of on-road driving dynamics that VW drivers had come to expect, the Touareg was co-developed with Porsche and shares the same basic architecture with the Cayenne. Unfortunately for Volkswagen, the Touareg has never been a particularly strong seller in years past, but the current model should improve on that record thanks to a host of engine-related upgrades in 2007.
Current Volkswagen Touareg
Volkswagen offers three different engines for the Touareg. First up is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. On V8 models, a 4.2-liter V8 delivers 350 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping Touareg V10 TDI has a diesel-fueled, turbocharged V10 displacing 5.0 liters. It’s rated at 310 hp and a stout 553 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The three different engines serve as the basis for the three Touareg trims, with the V6 as the base model, the V8 as the midlevel choice and finally the V10 as you move up the ladder in both price and content. The 4XMotion permanent four-wheel drive is standard and low-range gearing complements the optional height-adjustable air suspension. When combined with the optional locking differential and tough unibody structure, the Volkswagen Touareg has the ability to go places off-road that few other midsize SUVs should dare consider.
Getting to less treacherous destinations such as the mall, soccer practice or a night at the ballet are made enjoyable by the Touareg’s smooth on-road ride and a luxurious interior that includes standard and available features such as leather seats with memory, multizone climate control, navigation, premium audio entertainment and adaptive xenon headlights.
In our reviews of the Volkswagen Touareg, we’ve found that fuel economy continues to be a significant weakness. In VW’s effort to offer Range Rover levels of off-road ability and luxury at the same time, the Touareg is both heavier and thirstier than most of its segment competition, particularly the lighter-duty crossover SUVs. Only the diesel model is able to offer 20-plus mpg in real world driving. Mediocre second-row seat comfort and a lack of a third-row seat option are other Touareg shortcomings, especially since the latter feature has become very desirable in the midsize SUV segment. Unfortunately, there are no plans to offer a third row in the current generation of the Touareg.
Past Volkswagen Touareg Models
The VW Touareg, which debuted for the 2004 model year, is still in its first generation. Used SUV shoppers will want to take note that many upgrades were made to the 2007 model, so previous Touaregs are probably not as desirable.
At its debut, VW’s SUV came with either a 220-hp, 3.2-liter V6 or a 310-hp, 4.2-liter V8. Many owners consider the V6 to be underpowered, so going with the V8, especially now that depreciation has set in, probably isn’t a bad idea. A handful of V10 TDI models were also imported in ’04.
The V10 was dropped for 2005, but the V6 received 20 more hp. Changes for 2006 included upgrading the optional CD-based navigation system to DVDs and adding an available rearview camera, an auxiliary multimedia MP3 connector and a 115-volt power outlet (in place of the previous 12V source) in the rear cargo area. The V10 engine also made its return to the U.S. market very late into the ’06 calendar year.

2008 New Lexus IS-F Review
Hammering the IS-F through the sleepy desert two-lanes of Rosamond, California, I tried to remind myself: “I’m driving a Lexus.” But the 416-horsepower sedan leaves little time for inner monologues. Caned hard, the IS-F reels in straight-aways like King Triton’s spey rod. Corners arrive before your consciousness can catch up. Quick! Turn in, dip the throttle, unwind the hefty steering and feel the skittering rear wheels rotate you through the apex. Then look down at the silver “L” pointing at your chest. Cognitive dissonance much?
Yes, well, that’s exactly what Lexus has in mind. No longer content to be characterized as a purveyor of exceedingly well-built Buicks, Lexus is now vying for the youth vote. The IS-F’s ambitious charge: lure well-heeled hormonal enthusiasts away from Euro thoroughbreds like the M3, revitalize the brand’s image and pour young blood into its late middle-age demographic pool.
It’s a sensible strategy. But “sensible” is a four-letter word in this particular marketing exercise. Lexus wants buyers to think of this and future F variants as something a lot more Xtreme than its ice cool luxobarges. Thus, the IS-F’s press materials couch it as a controversial anomaly, the rogue brainchild of “a covert team of engineers” working deep within the Japanese giant. Suffice it to say, it makes for some eye-rolling reading.
Never mind. The IS-F’s vitals speak for themselves: a 5.0-liter V8 churning out the aforementioned 416 ponies (and 371 ft.-lbs. of torque), rear-wheel-drive, 14.2-inch drilled and vented front discs, 19” BBS rims wrapped in staggered-width rubber and defeatable traction and stability control. Yes, in a Lexus.
There’s a predictable downside to the F’s binary nature: Mr. Hyde only comes out to play above safe, legal velocities. The chassis boasts tasty balance at the limit, and the steering enlivens somewhat under load. But given the tires’ immense grip, you’d be nuts to sample either trait on your morning commute. So you back off, the engine fades to Muzak and Toyota’s patented anesthetic drips back into the primary controls. Yawn. Why does this cost $56k again?
And that’s the problem with the IS-F. To sprinkle the magic dust of desirability onto Lexus’ fledgling performance sub-brand, this car needed to match its Euro rivals for driver appeal, beat them on price and let enthusiasts fill in the “cachet” gap. The IS-F misses the marque; it’s a sort of designer-label STI, or an Evo’s dandy city cousin. Get kaizening on this one, Lexus. Otherwise that “F” may come to stand for… nothing much.

About Bugatti Veyron
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is a mid-engine sports car produced by Volkswagen Group subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS introduced in 2005. It is currently the fastest accelerating and decelerating production car in the world. It is currently also the most expensive production car available at a price of 1.1 million Euro. It is able to achieve the second highest top speed for a production car, behind the SSC Ultimate Aero TT.
Powered by a 736-kilowatt (1,001 PS/987 hp) W16 engine, it is able to achieve an average top speed of 408.47 km/h (253.81 mph). The car reached full production in September 2005, and is handcrafted in a factory Volkswagen built near the former Bugatti headquarters in Château St Jean in Molsheim (Alsace, France). It is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti firm. Two examples of the Veyron are known to have been wrecked since production began!

This gives the car a power to weight ratio of 529 BHP/ton.

Leather power adjusted bucket seats scream “cool car!.” The electronic speedometer is center mounted in the dash. To start, press the brake and push the green button on the right side of the steering wheel.
The transmission only has 4 gears, but you will most likely only feel 2 shifts during your drive. The suspension includes 4-wheel steering. The stock wheels sit twenty four inches. Amazing as it sounds…this concept car was put into production.

These highly functional vehicles feature optimal loading height and large side-hinged rear doors and sliding side doors that make the loading bay easily accessible.
The bright, modern, roomy cab combines practical, functional features with advanced ergonomics designed to ensure comfort and well-being for intensive professional use. Standard equipment includes power steering for driving comfort, as well as ABS and a driver airbag for enhanced safety. Toledo may look like a hatchback, but it’s a stylish, spacious saloon although the rear seats do fold down for added practicality. The well-finished interior is also nicely laid out, enabling the driver in particular to find a commanding and comfy position.
The excellent level of standard equipment makes travelling in a Toledo a pleasure, especially as the refinement levels are so good. Only the diesel engines produce any noticeable cabin noise.
Although promoted as a sports saloon, Toledo really isn’t in the BMW 3-Series mould; it lacks ride refinement and the firm suspension can upset occupants if the car is hurried along. Driving the in a more relaxed manner suits the car’s character far better. The larger petrol and turbodiesel engines manage to eat up the miles with ease.

The front has an aggressive look with the traditional Audi grille. The air intakes are shaped like the headlights to create a coherent feeling.
Exotic car Audi Locus has the same front grille as any other Audi and the shape looks somehow similar to Audi TT or Audi R8. Windscreen continues over the top of the supercar and finishes with the air intake system in the rear.

Infiniti G 37 AWD Coupe
Alright, that’s not entirely true. There’s a veritable treasure trove of great cars exclusive to the Japanese and US markets that we don’t get, and I suppose some of them could be better than the G37. But let’s just roll with it. Infiniti—Nissan’s luxury arm in the US and once in Australia as well—have announced that as of late 2008, the Infiniti G37 will be available in all-wheel-drive spec. While it’d be easy to draw comparisons to the GT-R, I’d think of it more as an AWD up-market version of the 350Z.
Noticeably absent from the AWD G37—titled the G37x—is a manual transmission option. That fact, for most people, should be enough to see this car remain the province of midlife crisisers and out of the tuning circles. At least until peeps start transplanting the running gear from previous GT-Rs (or the brand new one, should you have the moolah).

2009 Dodge(Ford Mustang) 600 HP
Scion may be toying around with such things as vehicles with dog beds and shower stalls as it gets ready for the 2008 SEMA show.
But Dodge is adopting a more classic approach, dropping the Dodge Viper’s 8.4-liter V10 into the Challenger and unleashing the potent 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT10 Concept.
The Viper’s influences on Challenger continue to be exerted on both the production and concept level.
The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8, for instance, can be ordered with the six-speed manual transmission first offered on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10.
The new SEMA-bound Challenger concept not only gets the Viper’s V10, which churns out 600 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque, it also gets the Viper’s red engine start push button on the dash.
Other SEMA-worthy touches on the Challenger concept are “Tornado Red” exterior paint and a carbon fiber deck lid and hood.
“The ‘shaker hood’ is a nostalgic representation of the 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda, giving the 600-hp Viper V10 engine room to breathe,” said Dodge in a statement. The cabin has sport seats and carbon fiber accents.

The 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango HEMI Hybrid vehicles are Chrysler’s first entries in the hybrid market.
Capable of towing 6,000 lbs., the 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango HEMI Hybrid vehicles deliver 385 horsepower — seamless, dependable power and performance on demand, in an efficient package. With an electrically variable transmission (featuring the best characteristics of an automatic transmission and hybrid drive) and two different hybrid modes of operation, the drive system dramatically improves fuel economy around town and at highway speeds.
The new 5.7-liter HEMI Hybrid is expected to deliver an overall fuel economy improvement of more than 25 percent, including an improvement of nearly 40 percent in the city. For customers who desire the performance and capability of a large SUV, the Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango Hybrid vehicles will reduce fuel consumption by several hundreds of gallons of gas per year.
The renowned HEMI powerplant, in hybrid form, will continue to feature Chrysler’s MDS, which allows the engine to seamlessly alternate between four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and V-8 mode when more power is in demand. The two-mode hybrid system provides assistance from electric motors allowing the HEMI V-8 to remain in four-cylinder mode more often than without a hybrid powertrain, improving overall fuel economy.
Built at the Newark Assembly Plant in Delaware, the new 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango HEMI Hybrid vehicles arrive in showrooms in mid-2008.

The Toyota FT-HS is a hybrid sports car concept introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. I have been drooling ever since. Auto experts are buzzing about this being the replacement for the Toyota Supra, and I don’t have a problem with that! Toyota is on the money with this very hot concept design.
For a while there I was scared hybrids and “green” cars would be weak, girly little cars with slow engines. But what I’m seeing from Toyota has made me a happy man. Imagine having a car that is much faster than a Porsche, Mercedes AMG and any M series car from BMW and still cost 1/4 the price! Well Toyota plans to sell the FT-HS somewhere in the mid 30k range which, if correct, has me sold as I type this down.
The goal of the rear wheel drive(thank god!) hybrid powertrain is to produce 400 horsepower and achieve 0-60 mph in around 4 seconds. This is accomplished with by combining a 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor in a similar manner to the Lexus GS450h. What else does Toyota have in store?
Well, for starters the 2+2 vehicle features a unique retractable roof similar to a targa top, but most likely will cancel out any use of the backseats when down. There still is no final word if the Toyota FT-HS will make it to production, but they haven’t had a sports car since the Supra in 1997. So if anyone from Toyota reads this article, be sure to get this car onto the production line, I will surely be your first customer!

New Jeep Patriot Review
Practically unchanged from the concept introduced at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Jeep Patriot made its global debut as a production vehicle, the newest entry-level SUV in Jeep’s lineup, at the 2006 New York International Automobile Show. The new Patriot arrives just three months after the debut at the 2006 NAIAS of another entry-level SUV from Jeep, the Compass. Both the Compass and the Patriot share a platform with the Dodge Caliber.
While the Compass looks more like a conventional SUV with a Jeep grille, the Patriot is more akin to the traditional Jeep design with elements of the original Jeep Cherokee evident. These include the square-ish lines, short overhangs and the trademark seven-slot Jeep grille. Also, the Patriot has already earned is ‘Trail Rated’ badge, unlike the Compass, because of its higher ground clearance and 4WD system.
The new Patriot will come with three available configurations: the standard front-wheel drive and two four-wheel drive systems (Freedom Drive I and Freedom Drive II). These drive systems make the Patriot a true off-road vehicle with its features such as added traction, continuously variable transmission with a low range capability, higher ground clearance, 17-inch all terrain tires and aluminum wheels, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lights, body sealing, etc.
Freedom II makes the Patriot at par with Jeep’s off-road capability prerequisites for water fording, traction, articulation, ground clearance and maneuverability. The Jeep Patriot will be powered by a 2.4 liter World Engine with variable valve timing and with an output of 172hp, and 165 lb.-ft. of torque. The Patriot will be arriving at dealerships later this year with an entry-level sticker price at under $16,000.

The Sportsman is one of four 2009 Rams that Dodge’s Mopar Underground Design Team is preparing to display at its SEMA show stand in Las Vegas.

Renault Megane Coupe: Official Images of Three-Door Version
Even though what you’re seeing in these pictures is most likely a clay model, this is how the production version of the three-door Megane will look like when it goes on sale in early 2009. The photos that come to us from a patent application made within the EU reveal that the 3door variant of Renault’s subcompact hatch draws its inspiration –though heavily toned down- from the Megane Coupe Concept that appeared at the Geneva motorshow earlier this year.
Under the bonnet, expect to see a similar engine range with the Megane 5D. What this means is that petrol engine options will include 1.6-liter units developing 100 and 110 HP, a 2.0-liter motor with 140 HP and two new turbocharged units, the 1.4-liter TCe producing 130 HP and the 2.0-liter TCe with 180 HP. For those that favor diesel power, Renault will offer the Megane Coupe with several dCi units delivering between 85 and 160 HP.
No word yet on whether Renault will introduce a successor to the almighty Megane RS and its special edition siblings like the R26 and the lightweight R26.

A Lexus-like seven-seat SUV that should continue to convert Hyundai skeptics.
Plop down into the driver’s seat of the Hyundai Veracruz, and you’ll find yourself in the middle of a quiet, comfortable, content-rich revelation. With a smooth, competent powertrain and luxury touches everywhere you look, it’s not hard to convince yourself that you’re behind the wheel of a Lexus. That’s hardly a shock, of course, given that Hyundai chose the Lexus RX350 as the benchmark for its seven-passenger Veracruz, which is now the largest SUV in Hyundai’s lineup.
A Smokin’ Deal
We tested an upscale front-wheel-drive Limited model, but all-wheel drive is available on any trim level for a $1700 premium. Ours was $33,120, with the only extra a set of floor mats for $125. Those luxury touches we mentioned? Mood lighting, heated leather seats, a six-CD Infinity stereo, a power liftgate, a sunroof, and auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors are all standard. Granted, many of those items are optional on lesser trim levels, but even the base Veracruz includes second-row climate controls, satellite radio, six airbags, and defroster-equipped side mirrors for $26,995, $100 less than an entry-level Honda Pilot and $500 or so less than a similarly outfitted Toyota Highlander. (A base Highlander costs some $1500 less than a Veracruz but doesn’t include a V-6 or third-row seating.) Should you feel particularly self-indulgent, available packages will add anything from a rear-seat DVD entertainment system to an upgraded, 605-watt stereo to power-adjustable pedals to hands-free keyless entry.

VW Passat 4 Motion Overview

Feature wise, the only thing I’d like available that isn’t as a factory installed feature is Bluetooth capability. There’s a phone button on the steering wheel, but according to the salesman it’s for European cars; we get the same wheel here in the US but not the same function. I also saw nothing on VW’s website about Bluetooth, so I assume he’s correct.
It also has a feature the BMW X5 doesn’t: you can close the liftgate with the touch of a button. The BMW brochure and website promise that option, but the BMW salesman I’ve been working with says it won’t be available until autumn. (He also told me it was a waste of money; sometimes I think salesmen should keep opinions to themselves! ) And the button is much preferable over the “yank and duck” method I have to use with the A4.
One option I wasn’t too impressed with on the Passat was what happens if you get navigation – then the 6 disc CD changer goes in the glove box instead of the center dash stack. Fine if you have a passenger, but a hassle if you don’t. At least it holds 6, though, so you won’t need to change the CD halfway into town.
I got to play a little bit with the premium sound system, and all I can say is check that option box, please! Wow! In the showroom with the windows on the car rolled down it sounded incredible. Can’t imagine with the windows up. Of course road noise will negate it some, but I’m game for any system that has bass with the windows down (my A4 does not).
The Passat is very similar to my A4, using many of the same controls like the Driver Information System joystick and the seat adjusters. That makes the learning curve for me very low, unlike the X5 where I have to get instructions each time I drive on how to get it out of park (why?!!! Why is the shifter so complicated?!!).
All in all, I think the Passat provides great bang for the buck and it’s back on my list of possibilities (it was removed for a while because of the looks). It’s biggest downfall for me is also one of it’s charms: We’re looking for a family car that can hold two carseats, and extra passengers would be a bonus. The Passat Wagon is a 5 seater, and not overly large, so we really need to decide how much seating we really need. But its smaller-than-an-SUV size is also its charm: Drives like a car, rides like a car, and gets great gas mileage like a car.
Oh, and one more bonus I just remembered: The rear doors on the Passat open REALLY wide, as opposed to the X5, meaning I can more easily stuff a child in the backseat. Sweet!

Infinity FX 50 – Review, Description, Tehnical Specs
Infiniti’s second generation large size SUV was revealed today at the Geneva Motor Show. As you can see for yourselves in the official images, Infiniti’s designers kept the exterior styling evolutionary though we must say that the new FX looks a bit more aggressive than its predecessor. Unique features include the distinctive side air vents have been added behind the front wheels and the signature double-arch front grille.
The interior, that has been completely redesigned, includes an Infiniti signature “double-wave” instrument panel and white-and-violet electroluminescent gauges. Notable features include the available sport seating and advanced audio, navigation and entertainment systems and the Infiniti Intelligent Key and Around View Monitor system.
The Japanese carmaker promises improved handling characteristics thatnks to the refined 4-wheel independent suspension and large 4-wheel disc brakes with available opposed-piston brake calipers. Moreover, there’s a new, available FX Sport Package that includes a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension, Rear-Active Steer and 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
Initially, the 2009 FX will be offered with a new 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 390 Hp and 500 Nm that replaces the 320 Hp 4.5-liter V8 of the outgoing FX45. the new FX50 will be joined by a V6 powered model, details of which will be announced later. The GTbyCITROËN has become the first (known) real-life car to be originally born in a video game. The Gran Turismo 5 Prologue car has been unveiled for real at the Paris Motor Show.
The PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is all about collecting exotic in-game cars. At the Paris Motor Show however, the digital world became reality.
The GTbyCITROËN is the product of a partnership built up during the creation of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Takumi Yamamoto, from Citroen and Kazunori Yamauchi from Polyphony Digital Inc, the games developer were inspired by each others industries to design a concept car for the game that then flowed further into the real-world. The game version of the car mirrors the real-world performance of the concept.
Speaking at the Paris Motor Show, Kazanori Yamauchi said:“GTbyCITROËN shows how the worlds of virtual and real-life motoring can join together to create a truly innovative partnership. We were delighted that Citroen approached us and gave us the opportunity to combine our creative strengths to build this very special concept car. To see the car take shape in game and then for real has been a truly unique experience as our work normally stays in the digital world. I just hope I can get behind the wheel of GT by Citroen and drive it on a real race track!”
