All drivers should have on board, in the sun visor to their right, the on-board rescue book, a document that, in the event of an accident, provides rescuers with important technical information for extrication operations and allows for faster first aid. The on-board rescue book is an A4 document that contains information about the positioning of the airbags, the fuel tanks, the battery, the appropriate cut-off points in order to prevent gas generators related to the airbags, etc. It is a page where the rescuers find a diagram with the places where the airbags, the battery, and the resistance points of the body are located. The emergency teams have to avoid them and, because they don’t know the car, they lose precious time when rescuing the victims.

Certain specific models of rescue cards available from car manufacturers are presented in the table below. Please take into account the fact that not all manufacturers provide rescue cards for older car models, produced by them and equipped with airbags. Manufacturers who do not yet offer salvage cards will begin to do so. At the moment, most rescue books can be found at German car manufacturers, on importers’ websites and are only available in German. These technical data help fire rescuers in extrication operations and ensure a decrease in response time and, at the same time, an increase in the number of people rescued by up to 30%, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations shows in a press release published on its website.

In the event of an accident, with the help of the rescue book on board, the rescuers will know how to act and will be able to remove the victims from the car in a much shorter time, the access of the medical personnel to provide first aid being also facilitated.

The golden rule of the emergency crews says that the victim must be rescued within one hour at the most. They have 20 minutes to arrive, 20 minutes to get her out of the car and 20 minutes to give her medical care. Every minute is important. And since new cars are very complicated, the rescuers lose precious time when they remove the victim from the crushed body.

If he had a diagram of the car, the On-Board Rescue Book, he would know where a body reinforcement bar is and would not cut in the wrong place. He would also know where the airbags are, in case one did not jump on impact, there is a risk of injuring the victim or the rescuer.

In Europe, especially in Germany, this book is already used. If they were in all cars, 2500 people would be saved every year in the European Union, say the authorities.

The book reduces the discharge time by 30%. The law obliges car manufacturers to publish on their websites the dashboards for all models produced. You can find them all in the same place, on the Romanian Automobile Club website. Unfortunately, older cars do not have this document.

The on-board rescue book is a simple A4 sheet, which after you download it from the internet, fold it and put it on the sun visor, then stick a sticker from the Romanian Automobile Club that will show the rescuers that this book it exists on board the car.

The license plate can be obtained from the representatives of the Romanian Automobile Club. All this is free, and the presence of the book in the car is currently a recommendation from the authorities.

They only have to choose the rescue card for their own car, print it in color on a simple sheet of paper and keep it, folded, in the sun visor next to the driver, to be as accessible as possible to the emergency crews.

Note: Please check the model/type of information as well as the images of the cars in the contents of the rescue books to be sure that the respective rescue books are the ones corresponding to your vehicle.
A rescue book always indicates the maximum number of airbags available for a certain model or series of models. It does not matter if the car is not fully equipped with the total number of complementary airbags indicated in the rescue books.
