Essential Road Trip Tips for Absolute Beginners

Have you always wanted to go on a road trip? If so then you have come to the right place. This guide will show you what steps you can take to make the most out of your upcoming adventure.

Inspect your Vehicle

The first thing you need to do is inspect your vehicle. Before leaving home, make sure that you get your fluids topped up and that you also check that your tires are rotated properly. It’s also worth checking to see if you need to do any last-minute repairs before you set off because it’s very difficult to repair a car on the road. It’s also very expensive, so take the time to avoid this if you can. If you think your vehicle is beyond repair or if you think it’s too old to go on a road trip then now could be the time for you to look into a new vehicle. Keep your Car Maintained

Did you know that if you keep your tires inflated, this can give you way better mileage? If you have under-inflated tires, you may find that you end up being able to do less miles per gallon and this can have a major impact if you are going on a road trip. Beyond tire pressure, it’s a good idea for you to maintain your vehicle fluids. This includes checking the radiator, brake and engine oil. At this point, you can replace burnt-out headlights and taillights, because if you are driving at night then this can be a major safety hazard.

Set a Reasonable Mileage Goal

The whole point of a road trip is for you to enjoy the journey as much as you do the destination. Driving 500 miles every single day won’t be enjoyable, nor will it be doable. By the time you stop off at your roadside attractions, you will find that your time is so limited that you aren’t able to enjoy it. If you want to help yourself here then one thing you can do is limit how many miles you are going to drive a day and then go from there. If you can do this, you will see a huge improvement in the way you feel.

Avoid Rush Hour

Sitting in congested traffic and waiting around for food is the best way for you to waste time on your road trip. If you want to work around this then take back roads during rush hour and also make sure that you are eating at good times, such as 9 am for breakfast and 2 pm for lunch. If you can do this then you are bound to get served quicker while spending less time in traffic.

Avoid Small Town Travel

Traveling in small towns is great, but you need to avoid them on Mondays and Sundays. These tend to be the days that businesses close, and the last thing you want is to pull up in a ghost town with nothing to do, especially if you have gone out of your way.

Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.

The second heart line begins at the rear edge of the door, swelling outwards and upwards to create a visually strong wheel arch, emphasizing the car’s rear-wheel drive layout, before dropping vertically through the tail lamp ...
