Winter car road trips are the way forward

Winter road trips are the way forward

When the winter months are closing in and the thoughts of a seasonal holiday are clogging up your day dreams, you might not be considering a road trip as a viable option. The thoughts of heading off for some winter sun and sitting on the beach, should not be your only consideration.

Spending days weaving through the quiet and tranquil countryside villages will unearth many new and interesting discoveries for you to share with your family.

Leave the motorway behind and remove yourself from the drudgery of following the straight line crowd. You could find your new favourite countryside pub or the perfect restaurant for a great Sunday brunch.

There are ways to plan a road trip. Firstly you find a destination you would like to visit. Then you can study the map and find random villages and towns to call in on along the way. You’d benefit from searching the internet to find the local heritage sites which take your interest. Picking up a map and plotting out your journey can be the surprise free trip you are looking for.

Then there’s the road trips where nothing is planned. You can get in the car with no idea which direction you are heading in. Pointing the car north and see what you can find. Local interest signs will help you find some interesting sites, but spontaneity will be the essence of you trip. Nothing will beat driving past a football ground, doing a sudden U-turn and finding out that they have spare tickets in the home stand. You instantly become a die-hard fan of random-place united and spend the night shouting your heads off.

Stopping in a quiet village pub or cafe, will give you the chance to speak to some local residents and find out where they think you should head to. Nothing will really beat the local-knowledge they have to pass on. It might just be that they know of a great hotel to stay in for the night, or they might know of the Shakespearean themed Bed and Breakfast which is just around the corner.

The sporadic and random road trip will turn up many great adventures and stories for you, but it is especially great during the winter months.

Packing a sledge or some thick plastic bags will allow you to find the untouched sledging slopes, which the rest of the town has not already tracked out and ruined. You will be able to drive away from the crowds, head towards the nearest slope or hill and drive to the top. Fresh tracks for all of you.

During the winter months, small villages are renown for hosting legendary seasonal festivals which showcase a variety of impressive talent shows, local treats and regional produce.

The car is the perfect environment for the winter months, if you are prepared. There are some essentials that every car should carry, to provide for everyday use and any emergency issues that might crop up.
Warm blankets, spare jumpers, gloves, energy bars and a thermos of hot drink will keep the occupants warm during any outing. To look after the car in times of heavy snow, it is always advised to have snow chains and a shovel, just in case you have to dig yourself out of any deep snow drifts.

The winter season is a great time to head out in the car and really get to explore the countryside and rural villages. The road trip is the perfect way to encompass all of your needs and wants, but to do so in warm, luxurious comfort and style as well.

The F-TYPE Coupe visual message is defined by three key ‘heart lines’, that visual message beginning with the formidable grille. It is from the twin ‘shark gill’ openings that sit either side of the grille that the essential first heart line – which mirrors the design of the F-TYPE Convertible – flows and begins to take shape. Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.

The second heart line begins at the rear edge of the door, swelling outwards and upwards to create a visually strong wheel arch, emphasizing the car’s rear-wheel drive layout, before dropping vertically through the tail lamp ...
