Though it first debuted the 2009 Focus RS at the London Motor Show in July, Ford of Europe will do it again at the Paris Motor Show next month and today has given us even more info about the fastest European car to ever wear the Blue Oval badge.
The ’09 Focus RS is powered by a turbocharged Duratec 2.5L five-cylinder producing about 300 horsepower and 325 ft-lbs of torque and can reach 62 mph in less than six seconds on its way to a top speed of 162 mph. The front-wheel-drive pocket rocket will channel all that energy to the ground through a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing limited-slip diff and what Ford calls the ‘RevoKnuckle’ front suspension. We couldn’t explain how it works, but Ford found the system so effective at reducing torque steer that a heavier all-wheel-drive was taken off the table during development.
And what better way to do it than with the flagship Scout. Called simply the Limited Scout, this last-of-the-line edition represents the final opportunity drivers will have to get their hands on a showroom-fresh vRS until a new version is launched next year.

For more than 20 years, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been one of the most successful and popular midsize luxury sedans. For many, it represents the ideal middle ground between what could be seen as the plebian C-Class and the overly visible and expensive S-Class. Indeed, the current E-Class, which was last redesigned in 2003, has found about a million buyers worldwide. Such popularity in an increasingly arduous market also makes it one of those rare cars that seems to be valued as much by consumers as by the company profiting from its sale.
The 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class also happens to come in more flavors than Diet Coke — literally. With two body styles, four engines and two drivetrains, this midsize luxury car provides buyers with a deep menu of choices. The Mercedes E350 and E550 are the most popular choices, as they provide ample power, an elegantly detailed interior and a suspension so smooth you’d swear its engineering inspiration was a canoe on a glassy lake. The wagon models provide a rear-facing third-row seat as well as interior space that rivals some five-passenger SUVs.
Images have leaked onto the Web from a private showing of the 2011 BMW 5-Series GT, which will be unveiled officially at the Geneva Motor Show. The hatchback is billed as a “concept,” but the production version will be almost identical, minus the quirky interior details. The “GT” is merely one variant of the all-new 5-Series. A regular sedan and wagon will also be introduced this year. Even if the hatchback body isn’t your thing, this car provides a clear idea of how the front end of all the new 5-Series models will look.
Showing its love for new acronyms, BMW has dubbed the vehicle a “Progressive Activity Sedan.” We suppose “luxury hatchback” is simply too bland a label for the German automaker.
The roomy vehicle has four large, fully adjustable seats and, as sources are telling us, small tables as well. A recent teaser video compares the car’s cabin to flying first class, so small tables seem like a distinct possibility. Depending on the options and packages, the GT will be riding on 18- to 21-inch wheels. All-wheel-drive will definitely be an option, as well as several of the bells and whistles from the newest 5- and 7-Series models.
Skoda’s Yeti soft-roader has a “better than even” chance of making it to Australia, but not until at least late 2009.

Wikipedia learns us about MAzda CX-7 The CX-7 is a mid-size crossover SUV model from Mazda, the production version of the MX-Crossport concept car.
The CX-7 is built in Hiroshima, Japan, starting in early 2006. The CX-7 was shown publicly for the first time at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show in January.
Production officially began on February 20 at Mazda’s Ujina#2 factory in Hiroshima. The CX-7 went on sale in spring 2006 as a 2007 model.
It is also Mazda’s first mid-size SUV since the Navajo was discontinued in 1994.
The all-new A5 and S5 convertibles will hit the U.S. next year, replacing the current A4 and S4 Cabriolets in Audi’s lineup. The move isn’t surprising; the new A5 and S5 coupes have sold briskly and won over the Cars.com staff as well.
Like the outgoing A4 and S4, the new models will feature retractable soft-tops instead of the newly popular retractable hardtops, like we’ve seen on BMW and Infiniti. However, the move allows for 11.3 cubic feet of storage volume with the top down. In comparison, the Volvo C70, which is one of the Audis’ larger competitors, only offers 6 cubic feet of trunk space with the top down.
One major difference between the new convertibles and the coupes is the engine in the S5 Cabriolet; instead of the V-8 in the S5 coupe, the S5 Cabriolet gets a supercharged V-6 that makes 333 hp. That means if you pick the open-air version you’ll lose 21 hp. We wonder how much of that power will be missed by convertible drivers, though. It’s also not a big drop-off in power compared to the S4 Cabriolet, which puts out 340 hp with a thirstier V-8.

So far we’ve been told that the Aston One-77 will cost more than a million quid, will be super exclusive and super fast. And so far all we’ve seen is a bunch of shadowy teasers and a half-covered cobbled together fibreglass lump last week in Paris.
There was absolutely no doubt in the mind of Professor Bodo Buschmann, President of Mercedes customization specialist BRABUS, “Even in the face of the extreme rework that characterizes the vehicles at SEMA, we were going to stick firmly to our principles and go for a more practicable solution.
Our GLKWidestar grabs attention with its stunning appearance, while at the same time, offering a high degree of everyday usability in all conditions.” And thus, it is fair to say that, among the four tuning competitors, the GLKWidestar represents the “European” solution. The SUV was conceived by development engineers on the basis of automotive pragmatism that stands by classic Mercedes-Benz characteristics. The Widestar is an interpretation of the GLKas an on-road machine with corner-hugging agility that also pays tribute to the high levels of refinement associated with Mercedes vehicles.
That doesn’t mean that the BRABUS GLK is merely a “good boy” among the SEMA stars. Far from it – one look is all it takes to capture the muscular stance of the Widestar bodyshell, which has been broadened by 50mm, incorporating beautifully integrated flared wheel arches that carry through to the front of the vehicle with distinctive air intake fins. Customised front and rear bumpers, LED daytime running lights, side skirts, a roof spoiler with LED lights (position lights) and all-new LED lighting units above the front windshield complete the reworked bodyshell.

The V12 TDI engine is taken from lasts year Q7 concept car which was 6.0L V12 Diesel. The new engine shreds 0.5 seconds of the 0-60 mph time which is now 4.2 seconds. The V12 TDI delivers about 500 horsepowers, but the interesting figure is the 738 lb-ft of torque which is class leading. Another interesting fact is that the car does 23 MPG which is about 1 liter/10 km, thats impressive.

For this update, we found the best reviews at Car and Driver and Motor Trend’s Truck Trend. Both of these publications extensively test and evaluate the entire pickup truck marketplace and explicitly name which pickups are the very best.
User forums there are also a great source of information. Consumer Reports does a good job of addressing some issues — such as safety and reliability — that aren’t as well covered elsewhere, but still falls short in terms of real-world testing of pickup trucks, and the discussion of individual pickups falls short of higher-rated reviewers.
Although pickup truck models are generally updated less frequently than passenger cars, when changes do occur they can leave once-formidable performers suddenly trailing the pack. Two examples of that are the Nissan Titan (*est. $23,700 to $38,530) and the Ford F-150 (*est. $17,900 to $40,205). Experts say that both, once top choices, have been eclipsed by more recently redesigned efforts like the Chevrolet Silverado (*est. $17,500 to $38,860) and Toyota Tundra (*est. $23,390 to $42,170).
The list pitted the Titan against the Tundra and Silverado last year, and found that the Titan finished last, albeit not by a large margin. The editors fault the Titan mainly for its “skittish” performance on gravel roads, while the other two trucks handled more confidently. Editors also found small issues, including dim headlights and some harder-to-use cabin controls. Still, the pickup is commended for its “trucklike honesty.”
Nissan has addressed some of the Titan’s shortcomings by introducing a longer wheelbase model, which allows for a longer bed, for 2008. Still, most of the best reviewers now name other trucks as better options.
4X4 Pickup EngineThe Ford F-150 was last redesigned in 2004, and will likely see a redesign for the 2009 model year. For now, however, reviews say that alongside the Chevy Silverado and Toyota Tundra the F-150 pickup looks a little dated, and performance is described as disappointing. Reviews say the F-150’s engine isn’t as smooth as the competition. But the F-150 is the most popular pickup in North America, with a fiercely loyal fan base. If you are not part of that fan base, however, reviews say that other trucks, such as the Chevrolet Silverado, clearly outclass the Ford F-150.
We all would like to save fuel, whether it is for a noble cause like saving the planet, or for a selfish cause like not burning a hole in the pocket. Here, we at NDTV Auto are going to show you how to maximize your fuel efficiency and minimize your visits to the petrol pump.
One trick that works well at conserving fuel on highways is imagining that the car has defective wheel bearings. This should limit your cruising speed, which is good for fuel efficiency. Remember that above 60kph, you’re using up most of your fuel to combat resistance from the air. Car designers have done their bit to make cars more slippery, but short of making cigar-shaped cars, there is no solution that will provide a massive improvement. Cruising at 50kph in top gear will give you the most efficiency, but it may be too slow for your liking.
You could lessen the air resistance by driving behind a large truck on the highway, but always keep a safe distance from it. As a rule of thumb, you should be two seconds behind the truck at any speed – an easy way of checking is saying “One one thousand, two one thousand.” If you pass the point where the truck was when you started saying that before you finished, increase the distance. This is vital – the truck will not be able to decelerate as quickly as you can, but it may be able to thud through potholes or rough patches of road that you might need to slow down for.
Another trick that requires a little imagination is the ‘holes in the exhaust’ trick. This will work well for city driving. All you have to do is imagine that your exhaust has holes in it, and your city, strict noise regulations. You can’t drive too slow for fear of getting spotted and pulled over, and you can’t drive fast because high revs means more noise and you’ll definitely be spotted and pulled over. This is no tachometer-watching trickery, just plain imagination helping you get more practical.

About Audi A6 2.0 TDIe Following in the footsteps of the RS6 Sedan, Audi has revealed its updated A6 sedan. Audi’s entire A6 line will undergo an update for the 2009 model year, keeping the 5-Series rival fresh until the an all-new A6 arrives in 2011.
The facelift for 2009 focuses primarily on an update to the car’s lighting systems. The taillights have been redesigned with R8-inspired lenses, and a striking LED treatment that effectively cut through the haze of blowing snow.
The ‘09 facelift will consist of a slightly redesigned front bumper, new rectangular fog lamps and larger air-intakes left and right of the grille. The A6 will debut along side the RS6 sedan at October’s Paris Motor Show.
