3D Car Configurator. View 3D Car Exclusive Preview
The very first online public disclosure of 3D Car – the innovative 3D Car Configurator from Bluemind Software.
Founded in 2004, Bluemind Software is a SME (micro enterprise) in the software development field. The company’s mission is to bring its contribution to the world through innovative and useful software products and through quality custom software development services.
Bluemind Software possesses good experience in developing 3D applications, CAD/CAM systems, engineering software, scientific software, multimedia applications, applications that combine desktop and web environments and others.
Applications like 3DCar, an interactive 3D car configurator, started in 2005 (on display at SIAB 2007), at a time when even decent 2D car configurators were scarce, show the company’s innovative side.
Bluemind Software also benefits of good understanding of research activities and proper communication and collaboration with the academic environment (the owner holds a Dr. title himself). The company is part of a research consortium, through which they participate in European research projects.
The website development services comply with the standard specifications(ISO/IEC 15445, XHTML, CSS etc.) for high quality.
3DCar is the innovative, fully interactive, car configurator developed by Bluemind Software (started in 2005, when even 2D configurators were rare).
It certainly was at least one of the first, if not the very first, configurator in which the user can interact with the car.
Unlike other products released in this niche, 3DCar works very well even on 5-6 year old PCs using complex 3D models with over 1 million triangles.
Customer demand brought us to the point where, with each passing year, automobile manufacturers increase the individual and extra options offered for their models.
Nowadays, the utility of car configurators is well known. They support the sales process and lead the customer from the Internet to the dealership and have a great contribution to the manufacturers and their worldwide dealers.
The idea of a 3D car configurator came to our general manager, Dr. Eng. Bogdan DEAKY, in 2005, when even 2D configurators were scarce. Inspired by earlier involvement in CAD/CAM systems development, he did imagine a 3D software system by means of which the user could immerse himself in an interactive world where he could both personalize the dream-car and interact with it.
Effective development of 3DCar started only in the fall of 2006, when needed resources and knowledge were sufficient, but not before conducting research related to the best suitable technology. This allowed introducing the maximum of innovating features, while making them available to a wide user spectrum.
The models displayed in the 3D View have optimized loading time once they are downloaded (recently the loading time was reduced from 40 seconds to maximum 5 seconds by means of tool and algorithm optimization). 3DCar is a flexible system which allows easy implementation of new models, thus reducing the costs on the software part. Also, we permanently work on finding means to improve the appearance of the models while keeping system requirements low.
I believe that this application can really help the clients to visualize their dream car, from exterior to interior. With 3DCar, the client has the possibility to choose from different existing models the one he wishes for. I can hardly wait to have this 3DCar configurator in our showroom on plasma screen! “

Dacia’s car models on German Autobahn

Dear car drivers, I’m posting for Speed Market from Romania. I have received a link regarding “Reverse innovation in action: Romanian cars from a french company on the german autobahn” and i’m able to give more details regarding.
First, please take on the post described by “Hardvard Business Review” on the blogs section:
Imagine you’re German, you need a new family car, and you have a limited budget — say, US$9,400. What can you do? Continue using public transportation? Buy a used car? Or maybe buy a brand-new Dacia Logan!
Dacia is a Romanian car manufacturer acquired in 1999 by French automaker Renault with the aim of designing low-cost passenger vehicles for emerging Eastern European markets. The Logan, a five-seater with a spacious trunk, was introduced in Romania in 2004 and subsequently to neighboring countries. The Logan’s basic version, costing US$6,500, was revolutionary in the automotive industry well before the Tata Nano appeared on the scene. Dacia now offers pickups, vans, station wagons, and mini SUVs (Duster) in emerging as well as developed markets. In Germany alone, where the car is offered starting at US$9,400, Dacia’s sales jumped from about 6,000 units in 2006 to about 85,000 units in 2009 — this in a land studded with its own car brands.
To offer the car at such low prices, Renault followed a stringent design-to-cost approach. The Logan consists of fewer parts than the average Western car and is made of traditional steel in a labor-intensive assembly process in a low-cost country. To meet the needs of emerging market customers, the car has a fuel filter, increased ground clearance, and a battery that can survive extreme weather conditions. Maintenance is simple; a basic technician can do the work. Interestingly, the Logan originally was conceived at Renault’s French R&D headquarters. Product development responsibility gradually shifted to the company’s new R&D center in Romania.
When Dacia launched the Logan in Germany, they followed five principles that may be useful to other companies planning to bring emerging market products into developed markets.
Focus on building platforms, not products. Platforms can be scaled up or down for global markets. For the German market, Dacia scaled up the product platform with more safety features and more appealing exterior characteristics, such as metallic paint. This allowed the automaker to charge higher prices and, in turn, reap higher profit margins.
Select target customers. The company carefully chose its target customers. Typically, these customers are people who buy a Logan instead of a used car, a cheap, Asian import, or a very small European car. These customers value price, space, and reliability. Renault highlights Logan’s best space-price ratio in its respective car segment. The car’s exceptional reliability is highlighted via guarantees, regular checks, and customer satisfaction surveys.
Please continue on the source this article.
Did you know that about Dacia ?
Dacia is a Romanian car manufacturer, named for the historic region that constitutes much of present-day Romania. It is now a subsidiary of the French carmaker Renault. The company is the main exporter from Romania with a market share of 10% of total exports.
Automobile Dacia company was founded in 1966 with assistance from Renault and the main Dacia factory was built in 1968, in Colibaşi (now called Mioveni), near Piteşti. Dacia acquired the tooling and basic designs of the Renault 12. However, until the tooling was ready it was decided to produce the Renault 8 under licence; it was known as the Dacia 1100.
From 1968 to 1972, some 44,000 were produced, with a very minor cosmetic change to the front in early 1970. Also produced in very limited numbers was the 1100S, with twin headlamps and a more powerful engine, used by the police and in motor racing.
And now …

How the ABS system on a car works? About the direction system

An anti-lock braking system, or ABS is a safety system which prevents the wheels on a motor vehicle from locking up (or ceasing to rotate) while braking.
A rotating road wheel allows the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking by preventing a skid and allowing the wheel to continue interacting tractively with the road surface as directed by driver steering inputs.
ABS offers improved vehicle control and decreases stopping distances on dry and especially slippery surfaces.
However, on loose surfaces like gravel and snow-on-pavement, it can slightly increase braking distance while still improving vehicle control.
Since initial widespread use in production cars, anti-lock braking systems have evolved considerably. Recent versions not only prevent wheel lock under braking, but also electronically control the front-to-rear brake bias.
This function, depending on its specific capabilities and implementation, is known as electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), traction control system, emergency brake assist, or electronic stability control.
The anti-lock brake controller is also known as the CAB (Controller Anti-lock Brake).
A typical ABS is composed of a central electronic control unit (ECU), four wheel speed sensors — one for each wheel — and two or more hydraulic valves within the brake hydraulics.
The ECU constantly monitors the rotational speed of each wheel, and when it detects a wheel rotating significantly slower than the others — a condition indicative of impending wheel lock — it actuates the valves to reduce hydraulic pressure to the brake at the affected wheel, thus reducing the braking force on that wheel. The wheel then turns faster; when the ECU detects it is turning significantly faster than the others, brake hydraulic pressure to the wheel is increased so the braking force is reapplied and the wheel slows.
This process is repeated continuously, and can be detected by the driver via brake pedal pulsation. Engine is influenced by the ABS System.

Car tuning modified cars styling. Best tuning modifications events
Car tuning is both an industry and a hobby, in which an automobile, motor bike, scooter or moped is modified in order to improve its performance, handling and presentation and improve the owner’s driving style.
As most vehicles leave the factory set up for average driver expectations and average conditions, tuning has become a way to personalize the characteristics of the vehicle to the owner’s preference.
example, they may be altered to provide better fuel economy, produce more power at high RPM or the ride comfort may be sacrificed to provide better handling.
Car tuning is related to auto racing, although most performance cars never compete. Rather they are built for the pleasure of owning and driving such a vehicle.
Another major facet of tuning includes performance modification to the car exterior.
This includes changing the aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle via side skirts, front and rear bumpers, adding spoilers, splitters, air vents and light weight wheels.
A big part of car modifications are car clubs or groups. Many are specific to particular car manufacturers. Clubs often attend national shows all over the country.

BMW Z8 Presentation (Engine, Road Test, Review)

The spectacular 507 roadster, built during 1956-59 in only 253 examples, is considered by many enthusiasts and collectors to be one of the most beautiful cars ever built.
In developing the Z8, BMW designers were challenged to imagine what the original 507 would be like if it had never ceased production and had evolved over four decades. The result of this creative direction is a thoroughly contemporary interpretation of that famous and coveted roadster – a car that is truly a perfect blend of performance and sensuality; of modern technology and classic elegance.
The world’s first look at the Z8 concept was the Z07 design study displayed at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show and shortly thereafter at the1998 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Again encouraged by favorable public reaction, BMW decided to build the Z8 in limited numbers.
BMW 507 designer Count Albrecht Goertz has paid the Z8 the ultimate compliment: “If I were to design the 507 today, it would look like the Z8.” Vastly different from the esthetic of current exclusive high-performance cars, the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car features a long hood, tapered overhangs, a cockpit positioned toward the rear, and a low beltline.
The front-fender air vents or “gills,” here with integrated fiber-optic turn signal lights, are a design element usually associated with the classic 507 even though the concept dates from earlier BMWs. In a world of sharp-edged, angular sports cars, the Z8 is romantically curvaceous.
The roadster’s advanced lighting technology includes Xenon lowbeam headlights with dynamic auto-leveling and, concealed in the leading edges of the headlamp covers, high-intensity washers.
The Z8 is the first car ever with neon turn signals and brake lights that illuminate ten times faster than conventional bulbs, giving other drivers more time to react. Another example of the attention to detail the designers lavished on the Z8 is the two round red lenses bracketing the rear license plate.
The left one is a rear foglight; the right one is a backup light that, despite its red lens, illuminates white for reversing.
Building the Z8 in Germany is as unique a process as is the car itself. Z8 bodies are constructed and painted at BMW’s Dingolfing plant, approximately 60 miles northeast of Munich; the front and rear bumpers are manufactured at the nearby Landshut facility. Completed bodies are then shipped to the former pilot-plant area of the company’s Munich factory for final assembly. There, a small team of highly skilled craftspeople largely hand-build Z8s in 31 assembly steps.
The complete construction and finishing process takes about 10 times as long as that for a 3 Series sedan.
The Z8 cockpit continues the theme of a modern re-creation of the 507. Thus in the tradition of great sports cars, the Z8 has a pushbutton starter for its engine. The ignition switch is mounted on the dash, just above the starter button instead of in the traditional steering-column location.
A new electronic steering lock, along with BMW’s Coded Driveaway Protection, helps deter theft.
Other standard equipment includes heated leather seats, a power roadster top and a removable aluminum hardtop with heated rear window. The extensive Nappa leather upholstery and trim is accented with body-color painted surfaces and aluminum control knobs, all connoting –5 –more– astounding attention to detail. Interior trim consists of aluminum and colorkeyed painted surfaces; among the few changes for ’02 are new choices for combining trim colors with the four available upholstery schemes.
There was never any question about what engine should power the Z8. The 3.2-liter aluminum V8 that powered the original 507 was, at the time, BMW’s most powerful engine. For a car that personifies BMW’s passion for driving, only the most powerful road engine in BMW history, the S62 5-liter V-8 – also found in the M5 sedan – would do. Delivering 394 horsepower and 368 lb-ft. of torque, the Z8’s aluminum engine is completely civilized in traffic and around town, thanks in part to its infinitely adjustable, electronically controlled valve-timing system.
Called High-Pressure Double VANOS 1, the system varies valve timing on the intake and exhaust valves of both cylinder heads – thus on all four camshafts – helping optimize power, torque and emission control.
The “high-pressure” designation signifies the fact that this engine, like other BMW M engines but distinct from regular production BMW powerplants, includes a dedicated oil pump for the VANOS system. The engine’s “drive-by-wire” throttle system operates eight individual intake throttles and includes M Driving Dynamics Control, which allows the driver to select between Normal and quicker Sport response characteristics. A unique g-sensitive engine-lubrication system automatically ensures proper oil circulation in hard cornering situations.
Because a V-8 engine’s cylinder heads are canted at a 45° angle, there could be insufficient natural oil flow out of the heads under extreme cornering loads.
In addition to the usual pressure pump, there are two scavenging pumps, one for each cylinder bank. In straight-ahead driving, these pumps pick up oil from the rear of the 1 – VANOS = VAriable NOckenwellen Steuerung = variable camshaft control, or variable valve timing. –6 –more– engine and return it to the sump. In hard cornering (0.9g or more), the Dynamic Stability Control system’s lateral-g sensor switches magnetic valves to different pickup points, at the curve-outer side of each head and the pan.
The original 507’s body was aluminum.
Taking up that tradition in a 21st-century form, all the Z8’s body panels, except its bumpers and door hinges, are aluminum. Here BMW has taken the use of this lightweight alloy a step further and designed an entire space frame in aluminum. This concept combines moderate weight with body rigidity that is unparalleled by any other open sports car in this category.
The monocoque frame is made of extrusion-pressed beams much like the trusses of a timber house. Nearly 1,000 rivets and 190 ft. of fused welding seam (MIG) hold the frame and body panels together. The frame is made largely in-house at BMW’s Dingolfing plant, where the existing aluminum processing center also makes the 3 Series convertible hardtop, M3 hood and 7 Series hood and front fenders.
The space frame, which is 30 percent lighter than if it were made of steel, provides exceptional torsional rigidity to eliminate most of the body or –7 –more– “cowl” shake usually associated with an open-top car: “The chassis is rigid enough,” commented Car and Driver in April 2001, “to harness [the engine’s] thrust without any creaks or groans.”
This also provides an extremely stable platform for precise suspension tuning, and contributes to excellent driver feedback. The central frame’s stiffness also allows much lower side sills than is normally the case for a roadster. Pairs of unique aluminum “Y” arms that connect the Z8’s front and rear sections to its space frame provide much of the torsional rigidity and accident protection.
In a crash, the arms are designed to crumple, absorbing energy and transferring forces to the sturdy center floor pan. In simulations of the rigorous European Union’s 40-mph offset crash test, the Z8’s passenger cell remained completely intact. “Smart” 2-stage airbags, safety belts with force limiters and automatic tensioners, twin Rollover Protection hoops behind the seats, and a reinforced windshield frame provide additional protection.

All about a hybrid car engine
Question: What is a hybrid car?
I know it uses gas and electric power, but what I am wondering is where does it get the energy for the car electric power. I think it uses the battery, but won’t you have to recharge it every night? Wouldn’t that cose more money? And if you don’t recharge and you want your car to run on battery power won’t it run out of power within a week? I am so confused, please help!!!
Best Answer:
When a standard hybrid car is driving over about 25 mph, the gasoline engine is being used to propel the car.
As it is doing so it is also working just as a generator does (like the kind you would use to run electricity in a home if your power went out or to power a cabin in the woods or on a boat.)
The electricity that is produced from the engine as you are driving is stored in a large battery pack.
When the car is driving slower than 25 mph or so (on average) then the gasoline motor automatically shuts off and the power from the batteries is sent to an electric motor (or motors), so no gas is being burned. Gasoline currently has a lot more stored energy than electricity does, so the car needs that power to move it at freeway speeds.
On any hybrid currently on the market you don’t need to plug it in, because all the electricity comes from the gas engine as you are driving.
Another option coming up sometime soon is the plug-in hybrid, in which a larger battery pack is plugged in when it isn’t used, increasing range and power available for the electric motor.
Some do-it-yourselfers who have done this to their own hybrids (voiding the warranty, though) have reported going from about 50+ mph up to 99 mph or so.

The Shelby team unveiled a supercharged concept version of the Mustang-based 2011 Shelby GT350 to the surprise of thousands gathered at the Barrett-Jackson Auction Opening Night Gala to honor the 45th anniversary of the first GT350 and first Shelby big block Cobra.
The concept behind the GT350 was to build a car that is light, nimble and powerful. Beginning with the “small block” 5.0 liter Ford Mustang GT as its base, the Shelby American team worked with experts from Ford Racing, Goodyear, Borla, Cragar and Baer to create a car that is fast and has razor sharp handling.
Every segment of the car is enhanced or replaced to create the ultimate balanced performance pony car that is true to the spirit of the 1965-1970 Shelby GT350.
“The 2011 GT350 balances heritage with modern necessity,” said Shelby American president Amy Boylan.
“Former Hot Wheels and Ford designer Larry Wood joined Vince LaViolette, Walter Cardenas, Andrew Smidt and the rest of our Las Vegas team to help integrate 1965-1970 Shelby styling cues with modern aerodynamics. We worked with Ford Racing to supercharge the engine with a goal of 500 horsepower, as well as to sharpen the handling. Baer Brakes helped engineer the fantastic brakes and we shod the GT350 with 19″ modern Cragar wheels and super sticky Goodyear tires. This Shelby is truly a complete performance package.”
“Since this was one of the most important cars in Shelby’s history, everyone stepped up to make sure it meets Carroll’s performance standards,” added Gary Davis, vice president of production for Shelby American.
“After it was hand built in our new design studio, it began extensive testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by veteran test drivers Vince LaViolett and Gary Patterson. We’re all proud to be part of this milestone Shelby car.”
Each GT350 will be clad in traditional white with Shelby Guardsman blue Le Mans stripes and feature the new Ford V-8 coupled to a six-speed manual transmission and center exit exhaust.
Blue Shelby GT350 valve covers and billet caps set off the supercharged engine. The Baer brake system features 6 piston kit in the front, as well as 14″ ERADISPEED rotors in the rear with cooling ducts for all four corners.
The suspension was upgraded with new Ford Racing springs, struts, sway bars, and adjustable caster/camber plates.
The car also receives a new front fascia, tail light trim, front splitter, rear deck lid filler panel and rear fascia. Functional scoops are located on the side rockers and hood. GT350 badges on the outside and inside include a Shelby serial number. The A pillar carries a fuel pressure, oil pressure and boost gauge.
The Shelby GT350 is a post title program; a customer purchases a car from their local Ford Dealer, which is turned into a GT350 by the Shelby American Team. A limited number will be built in the 2011 model year.
Shelby GT350 up-fit completed by Shelby American has a MSRP of $33,995 and does not include the price of the base car.

2012 Nomad, Monte Carlo & El Camino "Camaro based" Review
As a designer and a third generation Camaro owner I was very disappointed at Mr. Ed Welburn’s compromise called 2010 Camaro, for one its simply too tall and heavy to be called a sports car or at least a pony car the two door Bentley also claims sports car status , go figure… some might argue that the new Camaro is a muscle car, perhaps but any old car with a strong enough frame that can handle an overpowered engine and achieves a fast quarter mile, is a mussel car, but a pony car was special…how you ask?
It was based on a fairly small sporty car that cold be purchased as a strip down starter car to the mighty 1973 Pontiac firebird trans am equipped with the 300 horses and crap load of torque, oh did I mention the blue on blue turkey decal or shall I call it the screaming chicken by any name it was just the right hood decoration surrounding the rudely protruding shaker air intake with the 455SD insignia on both sides and yes there was a Pontiac big block super duty 455 cid engine was nested under the hood of a measly firebird which was no more then a Ford Pinto with its smaller engine.
Okay I am exaggerating a bit a polar whit pinto with blue turkey decal?
But this new Camaro wants to jump to the top from the get go and to make matters worse it tries to accommodate some sort of a cartoonish look of a mussel car the silhouette of a pony car and the size of a firkin Buick, and if that was not bad enough it is both visually and ergonomically offensive to most women … most ladies never bought the 455 SD T/A my cousin did back in 73 sadly the last ting he probably saw was that funky aluminum dash as the car was airborne of the side of a mountain cliff somewhere in Logar province of Afghanistan that was 1976 nor the ladies care for a yellow Rumble Bee pickup truck like the one I got no my friend Linda Mary drove her four cylinder iron duke powered 3rd gen.
Camaro stuffed with all her belongings from her home town of Montgomery Alabama to Manhattan NY and then trashed it , there is no need for a car in big apple dontchknow?
while my best friend and also my ex-fiancé made her parents to buy her a flame red 1986 IROC-Z28 on her high school graduation back in 1987 she drove it for 10 yeas and then I obtained it from her in exchange for a whole lot of Amex miles so she can shop at Fortunoff…
Bottom line… this super sized Camaro based on a full size sedans platform which reminds me more of the 57 Belair then a Camaro car, hence it can be many things a station wagon like a Nomad a pickup truck such as an El Camino a replacement for a full-size coupe perhaps Monte Carlo or possibly the future Batmobile but a pony care? I dont think so!

2011 Ford Mustang GT Presentation
The latest and newest 2011 Ford Mustang GT features the new 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine.
Packing 412 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, the engine produces 97 hp and 65 lb-ft more than the 4.6-liter V8 used in the 2010 Mustang GT.
Despite the added power, Ford projects fuel economy will rise to 17 city / 25 highway (up from 17 city / 23 highway) for models equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The fuel economy rating for the six-speed manual will remain unchanged at 16 city / 24 mpg highway.
To squeeze out the extra mileage, Ford equipped the car with Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), an Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system, and an additional rear decklid seal (to improve aerodynamics).

Honda’s Hydrogen Sport Car Concept

Green was the theme at the LA Auto Show as car manufacturers revealed a whole new line of hybrid, electric, and fuel efficient new cars… but none of them were as stylish as Hondas’s FC Sport Concept Car.
The futuristic sports car is a hydrogen powered, zero emission fuel cell supercar. The three seater is lightweight with a low center of gravity and features a powerful electric motor that helps it deliver supercar performance.
The eye catching, futuristic design of the car is meant to excite fans of sports cars, not just eco friendly motorists, and its a glimpse at what car design might look like in a post gas engine world.
Honda‘s FC Sport is only a concept car, and there are currently no plans to enter this zero emission design study model into actual production anytime soon.
But the fact that Honda could imagine such a fast, sexy, and green zero emissions hydrogen vehicle means it shouldn’t be long before all the major car companies start building similar vehicles.
According to Top Gear, in 2008, 30 litres of hydrogen costs roughly the same as 30 litres of gasoline in California.
Also, the FCX Clarity’s power plant is much simpler than an internal combustion engine, so it does not need to be serviced as often!

Online buying tips for new / used cars

Used Car Salesmen Tricks
One of the biggest moments in many people’s lives is driving off in their brand-spanking-new automobile. It’s an exhilarating feeling. It’s also a big moment because in that very instant, that brand-spanking-new car loses a big chunk of its value—the difference between the retail price you paid and the car’s wholesale value. That’s typically thousands gone in an instant.
That’s why some car buyers choose to shop around for a used car. You save yourself that steep initial drop-off in value. More importantly, you get a car that runs just as well, is just as dependable, and looks and feels as good as that new car—that is, if you play your cards right.
For if there is one pitfall of buying a used car, it’s the risk of buying a lemon, a junker—call it what you want, you get the point: the wrong car. Used car dealers, after all, have nearly as bad a reputation, if not worse, than lawyers do. This holds true for individual people selling their cars through newspapers, Web auctions and classified sites, or with the old-fashioned signs in their car windows. The saying, “Buyer Beware,” no where has more meaning than with cars.
The opposite to that, of course, is that there are some real steals out there in used cars. We’re talking about quality vehicles that will perform beyond your expectations at a low price. Here’s how to find these perfect used vehicles, and avoid the top 10 scams that used car dealers everywhere try to pull on you.
1. Get a second opinion for the hype. Used car dealers will bombard you with every adjective under the book to sell you on a car—sporty, thrifty, fast, and etc. Don’t take their word for it. Instead, find someone you know, whether a neighbor, a colleague, a family member, or a friend, who owns the same make and model of the vehicle, and ask them for their opinion.
2. Do a background check. One of the most unethical, but legal, things someone can do to you is sell you a used car that’s been in a flood (and sort of repaired), or one that’s had 10 previous owners (none of whom repaired it). To be sure you don’t fall victim to this, track down a history report, including a clearance check on the vehicle title. You can even get some of this information from the seller, simply by asking why they are selling it. You’d be surprised what beans people may spill.
3. Examine for past damage. Used car dealers may also try to peddle a vehicle that was wrecked in a major accident. It’s amazing what autobody experts can do to repair a car’s exterior. So don’t go by the outer appearances of a vehicle. Before you buy it, make sure that it does not have serious damage to its frame, which it would have if it was involved in a crash.
4. Call up your trusted mechanic. Used car dealers, especially the big lots, will say they put their used cars through a “100 point inspection,” or something like that. Once again, a second opinion is in order. Get this one from your own mechanic. He’ll be able to tell how good a shape the car actually is in. Also be sure to ask him or her how often the car had been serviced. A good mechanic can even gauge that.
5. Research for recalls. Needless to say, a used car dealer may sell you a car that’s actually under recall in his mad rush to get the car off his lot. So be sure to call the car manufacturer, or visit their Web site, to see if the vehicle has any active recalls.
6. Avoid the leftover lemon. Along with recalled vehicles, dealers may even perpetrate something much worse on you—sell you a lemon. (By definition, a lemon is a car that’s still under warranty, which has such major problems that, warranty or not, it still cannot be fixed in a reasonable way.) The best way to avoid this is to research in Consumer Reports or the various automobile magazines, which all have yearly reviews of every make and model on the market. They’ll tell you whether a kind of car is known for being a lemon and prone to breakdowns.
7. See through the old paint and bait. Along with performing their “100 point inspection,” car dealers may shine and wax a used car—even repaint it—to hide dents, dings, and rust spots. A keen eye, though, can see right through this.
8. Take the test drive. Once you’ve done all your research, homework, extra credit, and everything else called for in the first seven steps, then comes the fun—the test drive. Drive the car for as long as its owner or dealer will allow you. Then you’ll get a better feel for how the vehicle handles, accelerates, brakes, and otherwise suits your tastes (or doesn’t).
9. Be wary of the pushy seller. At any stage of the game—from the moment you first talk to the seller to the test drive—be careful if the seller gets pushy. Any dealer or seller who is in a rush to move a vehicle should set off bells and whistles. Why the rush? Are they hiding something? In some cases the seller may just be excited to sell you the car—and actually happy for you—but in many other cases, they may be up to something. Better be safe than sorry.
Follow these 9 simple steps to avoid the scams and pitfalls of used car deals, and you could get the car of your dreams—for far less than you’d pay if it was brand-new. Plus, you get that same high when you drive your new used car home, without losing thousands of dollars.
Used Car Buying Tips
Some of these used car buying tips won’t be new to you. Often the trick is just to apply what you already know. On the other hand, when it comes to expensive areas of life like buying a car, one new thing learned can save you hundreds of dollars. Try some of the following.
1. Make a low offer. Okay, you knew this one. A trick you may not have used, though, is to make a low offer, and then leave your phone number with the seller. Time has a way of making sellers desperate, especially after you just helped convince them that they are asking too much.
2. Be careful with car price guides. Use the “blue book” etc, but try not to pay more than wholesale. I can’t think of many times when people I know have paid more than “bluebook,” so these “average” sales prices are doubtful.
3. Talk to people. This is one of the simplest and effective used car buying tips. Just let friends, family and others know you’re looking for a car. Quite often people would be happy to avoid the whole process of advertising and showing their car if they could just get rid of it by giving a good deal to a friend.
4. Check out the engine. Have a mechanic look at the car, and tell you what it’s likely to need in the next year or so. Then make a list, so the seller can see in writing why you are offering less than he wants.
5. Auctions. See if there is a public auction in your area. If not, maybe you can go with a dealer friend and give him a $100 to buy a car for you.
6. www.carfax.com. It’s around $25 to run vehicle background checks for a month – long enough to find your next car. They’ll show the chain of title, accident reports for the car, and even safety and reliability scores for that model.
7. “Ugly” cars. Watch for cars that sit on the lot for months. Dealers will often sell these “ugly ducklings” at a loss just to move them. Again, you may want to leave your phone number with a low offer.
8. Rental company cars. They are sold fairly cheap when they get the new ones in. Buy at bluebook wholesale or less, because they have had many different drivers, so they’ve more wear than normal.
9. Repos. Credit unions and some small banks do their own selling of repossessed cars. You usually bid on paper, maybe with a $50 deposit, and then get your $50 back if you’re not the winning bidder. If they don’t sell their own repossessions, ask where they are sold.
10. Consider gas mileage. High mileage may be better, but maybe a car that costs $500 less will use only $400 more gas in the two years you expect to own it. Do the math.
The Guide To Better Car Buying Deals
Buying a car is like making a journey into the unknown especially if you do not know the meaning of mileage and the only seats you have sat on inside a car are the ones for the passengers. Without a map, one can get lost, confused by several choices and generally duped into accepting a less than great a deal.
Still like any journey, with the right guide to buying a car, one can breeze through the experience with flying colors. Below is a guide to getting better car buying deals not only in terms of getting high quality cars but also in being aware of rebates and discounts. Both online and offline transactions were mentioned and discussed as some people are already doing their shopping online.
Read on and see for yourself which car buying guide you already know and which one you just heard for the very first time.
Car buying guide #1: List your requirements and stick to it.
Knowing what you need and what you want already takes you halfway the decision-making process. List your requirements and search for a perfect match out of the hundreds of car models available. You can do this in the old fashion way by visiting the car dealers near your area or the new age way through the wonders of the World Wide Web. One car buying guide which you should remember is to never go to dealers without having a car in mind. Websites like CarDirect.com has a handy research tool that can help you refine your search
Car buying guide #2: Have a budget and stick to it.
When you have already decided on your car model, you can now look into the prices being offered by various car dealers. One car buying guide that is really important is to do price comparisons, which are available online at InvoiceDealers.com or CarsDirect. You can also ask advice from people who have bought cars in the last five years. Chances are, car dealers still have the same practices.
Car buying guide #3: Be on the look out for special sales and promos
Most car dealers and even websites will always come up with a promo or a special deal guaranteed to outsell the competition. You can also leave your contact details and ask the car dealers that you have visited to inform you of upcoming promos. That way, you will stay up to date and would be able to compare different deals offered by different companies. One can also try looking for great deals over the Internet.
Car buying guide #4: Buy at the right season
One car buying guide that is a sure hit is perfecting the timing of buying a car. Usually, car dealers go on sale by the end of December as there is low demand for expensive gadgets. Because of the Christmas shopping rush, few actually buy a car at this period of time. Another great time is on July to October where new models have to replace the new. Sometimes, car manufacturers even offer big discounts just to be rid of the stock.
Car buying guide #5: Beware of Add-ons
Some dealers would put add-on services that you do not really need until the price skyrockets. Beware of these add-ons and really determine if that is something that you would like for your car.

Alfa Romeo Spyder Concept

2010 marks Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary, and to celebrate, the design firm plans on building a special Alfa Romeo concept car for the 2010 Geneva motor show.
Given Pininfarina wants this concept to celebrate its past, present, and future, an Alfa Spider seems to be a natural choice.
Pininfarina has a long-standing relationship with Alfa Romeo, and was responsible for designing the firm’s legendary 1966 “Duetto” Spider.
Development of the two-seat spider was supervised by Lowie Vermeersch, also responsible for the Rolls-Royce Hyperion. Vermeersch, 35, started with the company in 1997 as an intern, rising to Design Director just ten years later.
Revealing the further design cues and body style of the Pininfarina’s Alfa Romeo spider, the designer views the new concept as the modern interpretation of the most famous car it produced for Alfa Romeo, the 1966 Duetto spider. It carries the original Duetto layout that includes front longitudinal engine and rear drive and is most likely to share its platform with the stunning 8C Spider. The design has been kept simple with thin front and rear lamps.
Although Alfa Romeo has a new executive team now, Vermeersch is aware of Alfa’s history and the Duetto’s legacy.
A new Alfa Romeo Duetto would be a fantastic example to celebrate both company’s anniversaries.

How to: Tips and Techniques for Driving in Rain
The rain really was quite heavy, and the sky quite dark. The temperature was still very pleasant though. When the road is wet, the film of the water on the asphalt causes tires to lose traction.
Less obvious is the fact that rain reduces driver perception — it’s harder to see through the rain — and also decreases visibility through its action on headlights, windshields and the road itself. While most people know to slow down in the rain, there are definitely other tips that will help keep you, and those who share the road with you, from becoming a statistic.
* Exercise extreme caution after a long dry spell. During a dry period, engine oil and grease build up on the road over time. When mixed with water from a new rainfall, the road becomes extremely slick. Continued rainfall will eventually wash away the oil, but the first few hours can be the most dangerous.
* Allow for more travel time. You should plan to drive at a slower pace than normal when the roads are wet. Keep in mind that traffic is likely to be moving slower as well. There’s also the possibility that your preplanned route may be flooded or jammed. Whatever the case, rushing equals higher risk.
* Brake earlier and with less force than you would normally. Not only does this increase the stopping distance between you and the car in front of you, it also lets the driver behind you know that you’re slowing down. Also, be more meticulous about using turn signals, so that other drivers know your intentions, and take turns and curves with less speed than you would in dry conditions.
* Most of America’s roads are crowned in the middle, which means that the water will run off to the sides. If possible, stay toward the middle of the road to avoid deep standing puddles.
* Don’t use cruise control. If you hydroplane, there’s the chance your car could actually accelerate. Cruise control also allows drivers to be less vigilant and to take their foot away from the pedals — not a great idea when reaction time is so important.

2011 New Rolls Royce Ghost Deluxe

Rolls Royce has introduced its Ghost model at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show which made the media wow for the car’s evoking images of adventure and technical innovation. Aside from the impressive exterior and interior parts, the Ghost sports a turbocharged V12 engine which displaces 6.6-liter and cranks out 563 horsepower with a torque of 575 lb-ft.
According to Rolls Royce Motor Cars CEO, the Ghost car “will be the first in a new generation of models to carry this evocative name…”.
There are no surprises in the styling, which is unchanged from the 200EX concept displayed in Geneva last March.
naturally, the Ghost retains the Phantom-style coach doors (don’t call them suicide in the presence of a Rolls rep) with built-in umbrellas.
Inside, the Ghost carries over additional Phantom quirks, such as the “Power Reserve” gauge the driver gets in lieu of a traditional tachometer.
Aside from that, this is clearly more of a driver’s car than the Phantom, whose opulent backseat accommodations show that it’s more about being driven in. The Ghost’s steering wheel is much smaller in diameter and has a thicker rim than its big brother, and the seats appear to have more contouring for lateral support, as well.

2010 Toyota 4Runner Offroad Review (US version)

The Toyota 4Runner is an SUV manufactured by Toyota and sold throughout the world from 1984 to the present. In Japan it was known as the Toyota Hilux Surf.
The original 4Runner was a compact SUV and little more than a Toyota pickup truck with a fiberglass shell over the bed, but the model has since undergone significant independent development into a cross between a mid-size and a full-size SUV.
All 4Runners have been built at Toyota’s Tahara plant in Tahara, Aichi, Japan or at Hino Motors’ Hamura, Japan plant, and in Brazil. Its mid-size crossover SUV counterpart is the Kluger/Highlander.
The third generation 4Runner did, however, look very similar to the second generation.
This similarity largely ended with its looks. It carried over the basic design and concept, but executed it differently with an all-new body shell on an all-new chassis. This time, it shared virtually nothing with the pickup it had originally evolved from, and had more in common with the Land Cruiser, as it shared its chassis with that of the Land Cruiser Prado.
The third generation 4Runner also featured new engines that are also installed in the first generation Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks. :
– 2.7L 3RZ-FE I4 replacing the previous 2.4L 22R-E I4; 150 hp (110 kW), max horsepower: 4800 rpm, torque: 177 ft·lbf (240 N·m), max torque: 4000 rpm;
– 3.4L 5VZ-FE V6 replacing the previous 3.0L 3VZ-E V6: power: 183 hp (136 kW), max horsepower: 4800 rpm, torque: 217 ft·lbf (294 N·m), max Torque: 3600 rpm.
and now, check the video review with the latest Toyota 4Runner:
As the base model of the lineup, the 2010 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4×2 will come with the 157-horsepower, 2.7-liter inline-4 shared with the Highlander, and it will start at $27,500 – a price drop of $1,140.
According to Toyota’s product information, this engine will be available with either two- or four-wheel drive, but we’d suspect anyone willing to sacrifice ruggedness for $1,140 isn’t really worried about the 4Runner’s off-roading abilities. Stepping up to the 270-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6, the 4Runner SR5 4×2 V6 will start at $29,175, while the volume seller, according to Toyota, is the four-wheel drive version of this configuration, which will get the same $30,915 starting price as the 2009 model. Even though the price is staying the same, Toyota claims that the 4Runner SR5 will benefit from an additional $1,700 worth of equipment when compared alongside the 2009 model.
Replacing the Sport Edition in the lineup, the all-new 4Runner Trail will be the most capable off-road model with a more rugged design and a single drivetrain configuration that offers only the V-6 paired with four-wheel drive.
With its blacked-out plastic trim and safari-style roof rack, the 2010 4Runner Trail will have a starting MSRP of $35,700.
This price represents an increase of about $5,000 compared to a base 2009 4Runner Sport, but unlike this model the 4Runner Trail is not available in a two-wheel drive layout.

Automobile Insurance Steps from the best auto insurance companies

When you buy a car, you have to do automobile insurance on it so that in case of any accident you can get coverage for any type of damage.
If there is any accident you should know how you will claim for your damage. So know everything in details, how you can claim your automobile insurance.
What to do for filing insurance claim
To get compensation for the loss incurred in an auto accident, you need to under the following steps:
1.Understand your policy before the accident: When you’re doing automobile insurance with a company, you should understand all the terms and conditions and what type of coverages they are offering. You should also know the detailed process of filing a claim, if an accident occurs.
2.Exchange personal information: If you meet with an accident then note down the other driver’s name, address, phone number, insurance information and license number. If he wants, you should also provide him with your personal information.
3.Identify witness: If there is any witness when the accident occurred, get their names, addresses and phone numbers. This may come useful if their account of the accident is needed during the processing of the claim.
4.Have medical treatment: If there is any injury do not neglect it. You can either go to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment or call 911 if the injury is life threatening.
5.Report the accident: You should immediately file the accident report with the local law enforcement officials and ask them to have the accident report prepared.
6.Notify your insurer: You should immediately notify your insurance company about the accident and the damage incurred. If the accident occurred due to the other driver’s fault, his insurance company will review the accident report and will give you compensation for the repair and replacement of your car. If you get insurance compensation from the other driver’s company, you don’t have to file for claim with your insurer and you don’t have to pay a deductible.
7.Agree to have an evaluation on your damage: You should allow the insurance company to evaluate the damage and estimate the cost towards repairing and replacement. When they are evaluating, you should also be present there so that no damage will get overlooked.
8.Do not release your insurance company in a hurry: Until and unless you are completely satisfied with the settlement for your damage, do not release the insurance company. In case of bodily injury you can demand money for the treatment. In case of damage to your car, the insurance company should pay for the repair and replacement of your car.
If you follow the steps mentioned above in filing your automobile insurance claim, you will get compensation for the damage of your car.

How to Buy Cheaper Auto Insurance!

What if all of your friends are the same age as you, have similar driving records and credit reports, and own vehicles like yours?
Believe it or not, that doesn’t necessarily mean you will have the same auto insurance premiums. Wouldn’t you like to be the one who gets the same policy, but gets it cheap?
All it takes is some know-how, and realizing what to look for when shopping online for your auto insurance.
Shop around—and online
Consumer groups tell us that the primary reason people don’t get cheap auto insurance is because they don’t comparison shop. It is the simple truth that there are so many auto insurance companies out there, you’ll never find the same insurance quote twice. That’s why shopping online is the single best way to find cheap auto insurance.
Online services offer quotes from multiple insurance companies, often within minutes. You can then choose the carrier that offers you the same policy at the cheapest rate.
Your neighbor may be sticking with the same auto insurance company out of habit, but his failure to shop online for a cheaper rate is his first mistake.
Get all the discounts
When you are shopping online for a cheap auto quote, make sure and read about the discounts that are offered. Most insurance companies offer, for example, a multi-car discount. In addition, there may be a good student discount that makes the policy cheaper for youthful drivers.
Don’t think you or your kid will qualify? Read the fine print. Often, the good student discount isn’t as hard to get as you may think.
Have you had insurance for the past six months? By providing the online service with proof of prior insurance, you may also qualify for a cheap rate with your new insurance company. What about your house—do you own it?
If so, many auto insurance carriers also offer homeowner insurance, or even insurance for your boat or other property, and that discount can bring that rate down to a level cheap enough to make even your brainy brother jealous.
Check your driving record
Many people pay the pricey amount that shows up on their bill, never realizing that an error in their driving record is the culprit.
Your insurance company usually gets an electronic copy of your driver history and applies any auto accidents and tickets toward your premiums.
If you take the time to get a copy of your record and find an error, you can easily have it removed, bringing you closer to your dream of cheap auto insurance. Additionally, make sure that you have gotten credit for any safe driver courses you have taken in the past.
Ditch the spouse and kids
No, you don’t have to leave your family to get cheap auto insurance. But your auto insurance company may allow a split policy, which could get you a cheaper premium. If there is a “certain someone” on your auto policy that has a bad driving record, the rates may be higher for everyone.
Additionally, if there are any youthful drivers on the policy, they may be keeping the more experienced drivers from qualifying for the best rate. In many cases, it is just a matter of moving the offending driver to their own policy, and presto, cheap insurance!
Make sure you know your options and check them all out when you’re shopping online for auto insurance. Even if you’ve got the best car on the block, the smartest kids, and the biggest house, there’s just something about buying cheap auto insurance that can make you feel superior.

2010 Wörthersee Car Tour Festival: Audi R8 GT & Golf GTI Excessive

The Wörthersee Tour in Reifnitz, Austria is the largest gathering of VAG enthusiasts in the world.
For more than two decades, this charming lakeside village has hosted millions of enthusiasts, who come to appreciate the most innovative and trendsetting VWs and Audis in Europe.
Wörthersee, as this event is most commonly known, derives its name from the beautiful lake that dominates this popular vacation area.
Wörthersee Festival brings together cars and fans of these beloved marques in a truly authentic European atmosphere.
Latest news from Wörthersee
This year, Volkswagen is presenting fans in Reifnitz with the Golf GTI Excessive. This concept car illustrates the great design potential of the Golf GTI and how it might develop in the future.
The Golf GTI Excessive is painted in the same fire-red “Firespark Metallic” as the Golf GTI Wörthersee 09. However, this time fire-red is not the only colour

The Audi R8 GT may be making its first official public appearance at the Wörthersee Tour 2010 this week, but the big push for Audi is unarguably the new A1.
Of the 19 cars that Audi is showing, nine are the new A1 mini-car. Seven of those have been customized with special wraps and interior treatments running the gamut from an Austrian police car to an airport guide vehicle.
Of special note is the white-walled, flame-sprouting low-rider riding on black steelies. With this display, it’s clear that Audi wants to go after the same audience that has been applying personalized finishes to modern Minis for the past decade.
To help that effort, Audi will be offering a variety of “competition kits” of interior and exterior bits that will be available when the A1 goes on sale later this year.

Should you keep your old car or buy a new one?
Are you sure you need a new car? I’m sure you want the newest safety features and modern styling that a new car offers.
Perhaps you need a larger vehicle to fit your growing family. You probably feel that your old car no longer fits your life. But how about cost?
From an economic perspective, you’re better off keeping your old car. It could save you thousands of dollars. Taking better care of your current car may make much more sense in the long run.
You’re probably thinking – those repair bills are really adding up. But the cost of repairs will never exceed the cost of a new car.
Changing your oil, replacing brakes, belts, and hoses are nothing compared to monthly payments on a new car. Even costly repairs like rebuilding an engine makes good financial sense.
If you’ve paid off your car, it is still in great shape and needs only a few modest repairs, there’s no need to throw it away. Enjoy your freedom from car payments. Enjoy lower annual taxes, insurance rates and license fees on your old car.
Buying a new vehicle would mean several years more of monthly principle and interest payments on a loan.
You can feel secure knowing that modern vehicles last longer. Not too many years ago, a vehicle’s useful life did not exceed 100,000 miles.
Today, many vehicles can breeze right past that 100,000 mile mark with no more than a tune-up, or maybe a new timing chain or fuel pump.
Older cars generally cost more to maintain and are more likely to break down. Repairs can be frustrating and expensive. But on the other hand they’re cheaper to own and operate. They lose most of its value in the first five years of their life. Your used vehicle won’t depreciate as much, saving you thousands.
Unless you’re rolling in cash, I’d say keep your old clunker.
Comfort yourself knowing that one day you’ll be able to easily afford that costly new ride.

Best auto insurance advices, reduce costs but maintain protection

Auto insurance is a legal requirement in every US state and Canadian province. Costs are continuing to rise. How can you reduce some of these expenses and still get the best coverage?
First, get multiple quotes from the Internet and your neighborhood broker. You can shop for different types of quotes from a direct-sell insurance companies and offline and online brokers.
Auto insurance that is cheapest isn’t always the smartest move.
Ask yourself, is the company financially secure? Are they reputable and will they pay out if you have to make a claim.
The first piece of the policy is almost always liability insurance.
If you only have minimum liability coverage and you injure someone, their attorney can go after your personal assets. Many insurers feel that minimum liability is a gamble. In fact, that is why it is often only a little more money for more protection.
Auto insurance varies on car types.
Coverage for a sports car is very different from insuring the family sedan or mini-van.
If you are looking to buy a car, consider buying a car that “looks good” to insurance companies. For instance, insurance companies know what kinds of cars are prone to problems.
They also know what kinds of cars are most often stolen. If you haven’t purchased your car yet, find out what cars make this “good list” among auto insurers.
Consider how much coverage you really need to buy and the price each of these coverages will pay. Think about collision and comprehensive coverage, which is how much you will be reimbursed for the loss or destruction of your vehicle. Are you carrying $30,000 worth of collision coverage for a $12,000 vehicle?
If your car was totaled, would you be able to afford to replace it? If not, you will want comprehensive and collision coverage.
The decision to buy this coverage is usually based on the value of your car. Guidelines usually suggest that if your car is worth less than $2,000, it won’t be worth it to buy comprehensive and collision.
If you own a $50,000 car though, it would most certainly be worth it to pay an extra $200 annually or so to insure that your car will be replaced if you get in a serious accident.
If you’re driving a used car from 10 years ago, dropping collision and/or comprehensive coverage can usually give big savings.
Run through various scenarios such as if I totaled someone else’s car, will my insurance cover it? How much will I have to pay out of my own pocket?
Paying a higher deductible can also keep your policy costs down. Remember, the deductible is what you pay out of own pocket when making a claim.
Buying a low mileage car and insuring with a good driving record, will all help bring insurance rates down. Don’t speed, don’t drink and drive and you’ll save.
Single, young males under the age of 25 get the short end of the stick in this deal so if you fall into this category make up for this price increase by purchasing a more sensible vehicle. Consider delaying the purchase of that cherry red Mustang until after you’re 26 and married.
Keep yourself adequately covered.
You can get away with having the bare minimums required by each state to keep you in compliance with state laws, but that may not be enough to protect your assets if you have a major incident.
Insurance experts recommend that you review your insurance policy often and thoroughly.
Many insurance companies offer discounts for anti-theft devices and advanced driver-training courses.

The Best Choices in Buying your Dream Motorcycle

For motorcycle enthusiasts, it could really be heaven’s gift if motorcycles come from packages delivered by the storks…
This is the kind of fantasy for those wishing hard for a baby. And indeed, once you have your dream motorcycle, we doubt if anything would prevent you from considering it as your baby.
But the point of this is that, you have to go over the tough decision of buying your dream motorcycle.
So how do you go about this business and get the greatest deal and bargain of your lifetime? Well, here are several insights of the choice you can consider in the process of buying your motorcycle…
• Considering buying a used motorcycle – if you are a new rider, it is quite preferable for you to start out with a used motorcycle. This used motorcycle will do nicely up until you get trained and have plenty of practice to spread over.
This could take at least a year. Since new riders are likely to take a few spills early in their motorcycle riding, a new bike in which to practice on might run you into thousands of dollars in repairs.
This incident will definitely not be something that will instill confidence in a rider that’s just starting out honing their skills.
Where can you get to buy your used motorcycle?
Four options can be had:
1. From an auction – you can keep yourself posted for this event and inspect the motorcycles to be auctioned before the bidding starts
2. From a Classified Ad – Not only in local newspapers, you can also check out motorcycle want ads in the internet. You can also check out the classifieds on the various motorcycle forums. Have a local and trusted mechanic check out the motorcycle for sale before deciding to buy it.
3. From a friend – or acquaintance – Tell your buddies, family friends or motorcycle club co-members that you’re on the lookout for a motorcycle that’s for sale. They may know of someone else who has a bike for sale. What’s more your motorcycle club members particularly can be relied upon in choosing the one in good condition.
4. From a dealer of used motorcycles – Consider visiting your local dealer. Trade-ins that are in good condition might be up for sale in a price that would fit your budget. You can also mention your interest to buy to several motorcycle sales people that you know. They might just find you the one you’re dreaming of.
• At last! You earned the right to acquire a brand new motorcycle! Where can be the best deals? Here’s several options:
1. From the Internet – you can use the Internet to do research on the new motorcycle you specifically want to have. There are manufacturers’ Web sites and dealer Web sites where you can read road test reviews, participate in forum discussions about motorcycles you’re interested in.
You can also chat in chat rooms, check out the price ranges and dealers who will sell a motorcycle to you on the Web. Be extra careful, in dealing through the Web. You should meet your motorcycle dealer in a face-to-face decision before deciding to buy altogether.
2. From a dealer – If you’re pretty dead set in buying certain models that are in high demand, dealers can be unwilling to budge on its price. Some are even inclined to charge over the MSRP for the bike. Harley-Davidson dealers can either sell away over MSRP with short or no waiting period or sell close to MSRP with a long waiting period or sell close to MSRP with a long waiting period.
If you decide to buy from a dealer, know what you want first. Make sure it fits your needs and look around and compare before having that talk with a dealer.
• Finally, you are closing the deal on the dream bike you have chosen to buy! What do you do, now?
1. You’ll find that although you’re much too eager to get over and done with the dealing as soon as possible it’s still a good measure to play hardball with the salesperson.
Emphasize that once you have bought your motorcycle you have started a relationship. It’s worthwhile to hint of giving them your other business such as apparel, repairs, and accessories. You’ll get on admirably over the bargains.
2. Always do your homework, not only before buying your motorcycle but during the actual buying process.
Remember that you are up against a pro in negotiations and lack of preparation will cost you big. Get them to throw in some extras after hinting that this is but the start of your business relationship. Take advantage of the dealer’s desire for future business opportunities and sales with you.
Buying a motorcycle is composed of many different ways with lots of choices at hand. You can always choose what would best work for you Use what works for you.
Try to work your way to the best deal or bargain you will fondly remember every time you look at your motorcycle and will give you great pride once you’re riding in it!

The D-Drive Infinitely Variable Geared Transmission
This brain-bending invention could be the holy grail of transmission technology – it allows you to smoothly move through gear ratios from top gear all the way through neutral and into reverse without ever disengaging the engine.
Plus, there’s no friction drive component, so the power is always transmitted through gear teeth – there’s never any slip or friction losses.
In fact, the D-Drive’s main difficulty is that it’s so damn hard to understand that people don’t really know what to do with it.
So here’s a close-up look, which will hopefully get a few people thinking.

Buying A Used Or Second Hand Car In UK and USA

If you are considering the purchase of your next used or second hand car, you might at this point be very nervous.
It’s not a purchase you make regularly like going to the supermarket for your monthly shop or buying that next outfit for hitting the town. It’s something you might only do every three or four years sometimes longer.
Some popular makes are:
Audi, Alfa Romeo, Bmw, Citroen, Ford, Fiat, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus,Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mg, Mini and Mitsubishi.
Confused? Who should I buy it from? A large garage group, a medium sized independent, a small independent, or a back street garage? The Answer? Whichever of these have the vehicle that you want! (With certain reservations which we will explore later.)
A common mistake is to go out in the car and visit all local sellers in the hope you see something you like, if you do this you will be at your most vulnerable and may well find that you buy something on impulse and may not in the long term be the best for you.
With the world wide web at your fingertips it’s a great place to start.
By using it and visiting some of the better used car classified sites you will be able to narrow down your choices before even leaving your home.
Ideally you should list your requirements in order of importance for example:
1. Insurance Cost
2. Fuel type
3. Economy
4. Vehicle size
5. 3/5/4 door etc
6. Price
7. Colour
8. Specification
Don’t get to carried away other wise the whole thing will not be the enjoyable experience it should be. Okay get surfing and find that combination of your dreams.
More of the most popular makes of vehicles to search are: Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, Rover, Seat, Subaru, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota, Vauxhall and Volkswagen.
Happy hunting and watch out for the next instalment. “The negotiation.”

Automotive industry crisis of 2008–2010
I have found on Wikipedia an interesting article regarding automotive industry crisis. Please take a look:
The automotive industry crisis of 2008–2010 was a part of a global financial downturn. The crisis affected European and Asian automobile manufacturers, but it was primarily felt in the American automobile manufacturing industry.
The downturn also affected Canada by virtue of the Automotive Products Trade Agreement.
The automotive industry was weakened by a substantial increase in the prices of automotive fuels[2] linked to the 2003-2008 energy crisis which discouraged purchases of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and pickup trucks which have low fuel economy.
The popularity and relatively high profit margins of these vehicles had encouraged the American “Big Three” automakers, General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler to make them their primary focus. With fewer fuel-efficient models to offer to consumers, sales began to slide. By 2008, the situation had turned critical as the credit crunch placed pressure on the prices of raw materials.
Car companies from Asia, Europe, North America, and elsewhere have implemented creative marketing strategies to entice reluctant consumers as most experienced double-digit percentage declines in sales. Major manufacturers, including the Big Three and Toyota offered substantial discounts across their lineups.
The Big Three faced criticism for their lineups, which were seen to be irresponsible in light of rising fuel prices. North American consumers turned to higher-quality and more fuel-efficient product of Japanese and European automakers.
However, many of the vehicles perceived to be foreign were actually “transplants,” foreign cars manufactured or assembled in the United States, at lower cost than true imports.

Hamann tuned a BMV 5-series Gran Turismo

The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo (also referred to as the BMW 5 Series GT) is a car from German manufacturer BMW, which was first displayed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show as a concept car.
It is the first production-destined rendition for BMW’s Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS) series of cars, its development code was F07.
The F07 platform provides a vehicle length traditionally found in a BMW 7 Series, but with the headroom found in a BMW X5. The F07 also features a unique “bi-modal” trunk, similar to the Twin Door concept on the Skoda Superb, which may be opened in a traditional car like fashion, or the entire hatch may be open in a traditional SUV fashion for larger objects.
The F07 is a derivative of the F10 platform that will underpin the sixth-generation of the BMW 5 Series. The front uses a multi-link suspension, unlike the MacPherson strut suspensions BMW previously used.

Italian Lamborghini Gallardo police car (before and after)

A Lamborghini Gallardo has been donated to the Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato) by Automobili Lamborghini SpA. The V10, 500 bhp 190 mph performance car has been liveried in the colours of the state police and includes a siren and flashing lights on the roof. This is the first time that a Lamborghini will be used by Italian police.
The Gallardo police car will be used by the traffic police (Polizia Stradale) during emergency situations on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway in southern Italy.
It is equipped with apparatus to transmit and receive information and images in critical situations such as road traffic accidents, fires and other disaster situations.
It will also be fitted with the Italian police’s Provida system which records traffic violations and sends images in real-time, and has a direct connection to the police database as well as the Elsag ‘Autodetector’ system for number plate recognition.
In addition, the Gallardo is equipped with first aid equipment including defibrillator apparatus with the capability to perform electrocardiograms, and automatic diagnosis of arterial pressure and the presence of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood. The car will also be used for the transportation of plasma and human organs for transplant.

How to Avoid Lemons at a Car Auction

Many people are leery of going to car auctions because the cars are sold in an “as is” condition. In other words, the buyer is responsible for any repairs that need to be made.
While it helps to be a car mechanic, it is not necessary, because you can still make a good decision about the car to bid on. When you know what to look for, you can make a bid with confidence.
Carefully Inspect the Car Before Bidding
You must make the effort and take the time to inspect the car that you want to bid on during the auction. Prior to bidding, you are given the opportunity to look the car over in advance.
While most auctions will not let you test drive the car, they will let you start it and hear how the engine runs. If you don’t take advantage of the inspection time, you could buy a car that looks great but has some serious mechanical problems.
Keep Notes as You Inspect Various Cars
Since you will be examining a few cars, take written notes of anything that you find that needs repair.
This way you can look over your notes after you have examined all the cars you’re interested in and pick the one that has the least things wrong with it.
Inspect the Exterior
The first thing to look over is the body of the car. You want to examine it for signs of an accident.
When checking the exterior of the car, look out for paint that does not match, paint bubbles, rust spots, and dents. See if the body panels are aligned.
Inspect the Interior
When checking the interior of the car examine the trunk, look under the seat, and check under the floor mats.
You want to check for dampness, oil spills, or any other clue that the car has needed some kind of repair work on it.
Inspect The Mechanical and Electrical Systems
When inspecting the engine compartment, try to find frayed or broken wires or belts, rusted parts, or bolts that don’t match the color of the other bolts.
If all is well, as far as you can tell with the engine, then start it up and examine it for any knocking sounds or jarring vibrations. Also, check all the lights, turn signals, radios, and so on.
The Power of Educated Observation
Car auctions offer those who know what they are looking for a chance to buy a great car for a low price. However, for the naïve or unwary, they also offer the possibility of ending up with a lemon.
The difference between getting a good deal and getting suckered into a bad one depends on your power of observation.
This, in turn, depends on knowing where to look. The power of educated observation can go a long way in making the right choice between various cars.

- As I said before be smart and shop around, get quotes from as many insurance companies as you can, rates change between different insurance companies and the differences between then can and will keep money in your pockets if you play your cards right.
- Consider paying a higher deductible. A deductible is the amount you pay from your pocket before your insurance will pay should you have a claim.
- If you have a car that is not worth so much money consider dropping comprehensive and possibly collision coverage as well. If you car is worth only $1500 to $2000 it makes more sense to buy another vehicle rather than fix the old one.
- Always ask for possible discounts some insurance companies may offer you a discount if your car has certain safety features such as anti-lock breaks or a anti-theft device like a immobilizer or an alarm system.

Ford Company’s History

The Ford Motor Company is an American multinational corporation based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The automaker was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903.
In addition to the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands, Ford also owns Volvo Cars in Sweden, and a small stake in Mazda in Japan and Aston Martin in the UK. Ford’s former UK subsidiaries Jaguar and Land Rover were sold to Tata Motors of India in March 2008.
Ford has agreed to sell Volvo to Geely Automobile in a deal expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2010.
Ford introduced methods for large-scale manufacturing of cars and large-scale management of an industrial workforce using elaborately engineered manufacturing sequences typified by moving assembly lines. Henry Ford’s methods came to be known around the world as Fordism by 1914.
Ford is currently the second largest automaker in the U.S. and the fourth-largest in the world based on number of vehicles sold annually, directly behind Volkswagen. In 2007, Ford fell from second to third in US annual vehicle sales for the first time in 56 years, behind only General Motors and Toyota.
However, Ford occasionally outsells Toyota in shorter periods (most recently, during the summer months of 2009). By the end of 2009, Ford was the third largest automaker in Europe (behind Volkswagen and PSA).
Ford is the seventh-ranked overall American-based company in the 2008 Fortune 500 list, based on global revenues in 2008 of $146.3 billion. In 2008, Ford produced 5.532 million automobiles and employed about 213,000 employees at around 90 plants and facilities worldwide. Starting in 2007, Ford received more initial quality survey awards from J. D. Power and Associates than any other automaker. Five of Ford’s vehicles ranked at the top of their categories and fourteen vehicles ranked in the top three.
The Ford Motor Company was launched in a converted factory in 1903 with $28,000 in cash from twelve investors, most notably John and Horace Dodge (who would later found their own car company).
Henry’s first attempt under his name was the Henry Ford Company on November 3, 1901, which became the Cadillac Motor Company on August 22, 1902. During its early years, the company produced just a few cars a day at its factory on Mack Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Groups of two or three men worked on each car from components made to order by other companies.
Henry Ford was 40 years old when he founded the Ford Motor Company, which would go on to become one of the world’s largest and most profitable companies, as well as being one to survive the Great Depression. As one of the largest family-controlled companies in the world, the Ford Motor Company has been in continuous family control for over 100 years.
Today, Ford Motor Company manufactures automobiles under several names including Lincoln and Mercury in the United States. In 1958, Ford introduced a new marque, the Edsel, but poor sales led to its discontinuation in 1960. Later, in 1985, the Merkur brand was introduced to market Fords from Europe in the United States; it met a similar fate in 1989.
Ford has major manufacturing operations in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, the People’s Republic of China, and several other countries, including South Africa where, following divestment during apartheid, it once again has a wholly owned subsidiary. Ford also has a cooperative agreement with Russian automaker GAZ.
Ford acquired British sports car maker Aston Martin in 1989, but sold it on March 12, 2007, retaining a small minority stake, and Volvo Cars of Sweden. In November 2008 it reduced its 33.4% controlling interest in Mazda of Japan, to a 13.4% non-controlling interest.
It shares an American joint venture plant in Flat Rock, Michigan called Auto Alliance with Mazda. It has spun off its parts division under the name Visteon.
Ford sold the United Kingdom-based Jaguar and Land Rover companies and brands to Tata Motors of India in March 2008.
Also in 2008, Ford Motor is in negotiations with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation to sell its Volvo cars division.
Ford’s FoMoCo parts division sells aftermarket parts under the Motorcraft brand name.
Ford’s non-manufacturing operations include organizations such as automotive finance operation Ford Motor Credit Company. Ford also sponsors numerous events and sports facilities around the US, most notably Ford Center in downtown Oklahoma City and Ford Field in downtown Detroit.
Overall the Ford Motor Company controls the following operational car marques: Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Volvo Cars.

2012 Lexus LFA vs 2010 Nissan GT-R
Lexus LFA Review
The Lexus LFA is a two-seat exotic sports coupe produced by Lexus as a concept car, “halo” vehicle, racing prototype, and production model.
It is the second model in the F marque line of performance vehicles from Lexus, following the IS F. Three concept versions have been shown, each debuting at the North American International Auto Show with the LF-A designation as part of the LF Series concept line.
The first LF-A concept premiered in 2005, followed in 2007 by a second LF-A with a more completely furnished interior and exterior. The third version of the LF-A, a roadster model, premiered in 2008. The production model, trademarked LFA, was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2009.
The production Lexus LFA features a new V10 engine and a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) body. CFRP materials account for 65 percent of the LFA’s body composition by mass. The LFA is scheduled to go into production in late 2010, with a projected run of 500 vehicles at the base price of US$375,000.
Nissan GT-R Review
Between 1969 and 1974, and again between 1989 and 2002, Nissan produced a high performance version of its Skyline range called the Nissan Skyline GT-R. This car proved to be iconic for Nissan and achieved much fame and success on road and track. The Nissan GT-R, although no longer carrying the “Skyline” badge, has heritage in the Nissan Skyline GT-R.
Like the Skyline GT-Rs R32 through R34, the Nissan GT-R is all-wheel drive with a twin-turbo 6 cylinder engine; however, the evolutionary, incremental changes between Skyline models R32 through R34 have been done away with. The four-wheel-steering HICAS system has been removed, and the former straight-6 RB26DETT engine has been replaced with a new V6 VR38DETT.
Because of the GT-R’s heritage, the chassis code for the all-new version has been called CBA-R35, or ‘R35’ for short, carrying on the naming trend from previous Skyline GT-R generations. The GT-R has also retained its Skyline predecessor’s nickname Godzilla.
GT-R Prototype at the 2005 Tokyo Motor ShowTwo concept vehicles were displayed at motor shows prior to the unveiling of the production model. The first concept was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2001 to preview what a 21st century GT-R would look like. At the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan unveiled a redesigned concept, the GT-R Proto, stating that the production GT-R would be 80-90% based on this concept.

2010/2011Mitsubishi ASX RVR Crossover Concept Review

Mitsubishi cars have made their name in the market. Mitsubishi cars are relied upon to bring customer satisfaction with utility and looks. The Japanese Mitsubishi has evolved into a global brand in cars and heavy industries.
Mitsubishi cars in India, including both sedans like Mitsubishi Lancer and Mitsubishi Cedia, and SUVs running on diesel like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Mitsubishi Montero, have built inroads into the Indian car market and carved out a special niche for themselves
Mitsubishi Motors extends the concept one notch below (C-segment) with the introduction of a smaller and sportier sibling: the all-new Mitsubishi ASX compact crossover. Another “global car for the regions” from Mitsubishi Motors and therefore named and specified accordingly, Mitsubishi RVR ASX Crossover was first launched in Japan in February 2010 (as “RVR“).
After its European premiere at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, it will be retailed in Europe end of spring 2010.
Sharing the same evocative “Kawasemi Blue” introduction color, the new Mitsubishi ASX represents a marketable interpretation of the Concept-cX show car, unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, whose success convinced MMC’s management to turn it into a full-fledged production car.
Longer by nearly 20 cm (4.295 m vs the concept’s 4.11 m), slightly higher (+ 6.5cm) and wider (+ 2cm), and featuring a more upright tailgate all for the sake of optimum packaging, Mitsubishi ASX shares nonetheless Concept-cX’s basic design theme as well as its passenger car-like sure-footed stance.
Suggested by the gaping “Jet Fighter” grille – a nod to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.’s F-2 jet fighter and now a trademark feature for nearly all Mitsubishi Motors on-road vehicles in Europe (Colt, Lancer and Outlander) – this car-like “attitude” was a key direction for Mitsubishi designers: unencumbered by any marketing pressure to simulate an SUV look through heavy detailing (no need to with Pajero/Montero/Shogun and L200 already in the range…), they further developed Concept-cX’s own vocabulary towards a less polarizing yet sharp, expressive and finely executed “sports hatch” with proper presence & substance.
The latest contributor to MMC’s green tech strategy, Mitsubishi ASX will also inaugurate an all-new family of all-aluminum DOHC 16v 4-cylinder Common rail Direct injection “low impact” Euro 5 Diesel engines, jointly developed by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), the latter providing – amongst others – engineering expertise gained through experience in industrial and marine Diesel engines, as well as in gas turbine technologies.
Initially offered in 1.8 liter form – first with Mitsubishi ASX and later on during the second half of 2010 in the related Lancer family – this “4N13” set of powerplants is a derivative of MMC’s recent petrol engine and features innovative technologies, including a new variable geometry turbocharger as well as high-efficiency combustion characteristics that stem from the application of MMC’s and MHI’s own analytic technology.
Highlight of this technological showcase is Mitsubishi’s proprietary MIVEC variable valve timing system: a world first for passenger car Diesel engines.
In parallel, for customers looking for a petrol option, Mitsubishi ASX will also be proposed with a new 1.6 liter DOHC 16v MIVEC engine: another in-house development, this time of Mitsubishi’s own 1.5 liter engine as fitted to Colt.
In this Mitsubishi ASX application, it will also be made available with the full ClearTec package and be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Courtesy of the all-inclusive electronic architecture of its “Project Global” platform, Mitsubishi RVR ASX Crossover offers the full palette of active & passive safety devices, including (availability according to model and market):
- 160˚ Super-HiD “Wide Vision” xenon headlamps
- Active Stability Control
- Traction Control
- Hill Start Assist system
- ABS
- Electronic Brake Distribution
- Brake Assist
- Emergency Stop signal System
- 7 airbags (incl. driver knee airbag)
- Low impact MIVEC Diesel
And also for New Mitsubishi RVR ASX Crossover is available an online game ready for drivers:
(Missions will put your driving timing and co-ordination skills to the test, driving in rush hour traffic against the clock, and the mini-games will include parking your car in impossibly tight places, navigating through tricky cone layouts and playing car tennis. )

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will premiere its Mitsubishi ASX all-new compact crossover at the 80th Geneva International Motor Show held at the Geneva Palexpo in Switzerland in March 2010.
The Mitsubishi ASX is the European-spec version of the Japanese Mitsubishi RVR, which is slated to go on sale in Japan from February 2010. MMC’s new compact crossover will seat 5 and will be sequentially introduced in European countries from late spring 2010, aimed at expanding MMC’s passenger car footprint in the region, following in the footsteps of the larger and recently redesigned Outlander mid-size crossover.
Amongst other available powertrains, the European-spec version will be fitted with an all-new Euro 5-compliant 1.8L turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine jointly developed by MMC and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. and will feature “Automatic Stop & Go” technology. Together with a 6-speed manual transmission, this combination will provide high environmental efficiency.

2010 Volvo XC60 & CX90 & C70 Review

The 2010 Volvo XC60 is a new crossover sport-utility that seats five passengers. The new XC60 represents a slightly smaller addition to the existing stable of XC70 and XC90 crossover SUVs.
They’re called crossovers because they straddle the line between car and SUV.
The XC60 looks like a small XC90 and comes in one model called the T6. The XC60 is powered by a turbocharged and intercooled 281-horsepower six cylinder through a six-speed automatic transmission called Geartronic. All-wheel drive is standard.
Ride and handling characteristics of the XC60 are characteristic of Volvo’s crossover sport utilities, that is, comfortable but tending more toward utility than sport. To that end, the XC60’s ground clearance tops the competition. Power is decent, and brakes are superb.

2010 Ferrari California
and well known supercar manufacturer Ferrari.
This is the new Ferrari California. A car completely alone in its class from any other supercar in the Ferrari range. The new California is the first of its kind being an alternative to an F430. This new Ferrari is very special and important as it has a few features never before seen on any other Ferrari.
One of these new features is a front-mounted V8 engine. Ferrari have only ever put V12 engines in the front and V8s in the middle. This 4.3L V8 engine is a derivative of that in the F430 except that the California has a flat-plane crank instead of a common/conventional one like the F430 meaning the California can rev higher and more freely than other V8 engined cars. This engine produces 440bhp and can lead onto a top speed between the regions of 190 and 200mph.
Another fantastic feature is the amazing metal folding hardtop. Metal folding roofs are usually a job for German super-cruisers but now Ferrari have joined the game. The roof activation in the video is in slow motion for effect but otherwise it can go from convertible to coupe in less than 12 seconds. Also as you may have noticed it has a new touch-screen screen in the dashboard that displays your Sat-Nav and also can be used as the radio and a DVD player.
The model name ‘California’ refers to the nostalgic time of 1958 when Ferrari released the 250GT California to raise Ferrari awareness in the US. The prestigious 250 California is now reproduced now with the all new Ferrari California for 2009.
The list price is £143,000 before options that include leather trims and coulors as well as metallic paint jobs. All Californias have carbon ceramic brakes as standard. This particular California was filmed at HR Owen Ferrari & Maserati in London. The spec of this car is Grigio Silverstone with Crema hide.

Hyundai Company’s History

The Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), a division of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, is South Korea’s largest car maker. Headquartered in Yangjae-dong Seocho-gu Seoul, Korea.
It is also the world’s sixth largest car maker and operates the world’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility in Ulsan, South Korea. The Hyundai logo, a slanted, stylized ‘H’, is symbolic of two people (the company and customer) shaking hands and its official slogan is “Drive your way”.
Hyundai is a group of companies founded by Chung Ju-yung in South Korea. The first Hyundai company was founded in 1947 as a construction company.
Hyundai means “modernity” in the Korean language.
Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, Hyundai operates the world’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility in Ulsan, which is capable of producing 1.6 million units annually. The company employs about 75,000 persons around the world, Hyundai vehicles are sold in 193 countries through some 6,000 dealerships and showrooms worldwide.
Some of the best-known Hyundai divisions are Hyundai Motor Company, the world’s fourth largest automaker and one of the Big Asian Four (with Toyota, Honda and Nissan), and Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s largest shipbuilder. Other companies currently or formerly controlled by members of Chung’s extended family may be loosely referred to as a part of the Hyundai chaebol.
In 1998 Hyundai bought Kia Motors, another South Korean company.
Hyundai Group underwent a massive restructuring following the 1997 East Asian financial crisis and the founder’s death in 2001. Today many companies bearing the name Hyundai are legally unrelated to the Hyundai Group
Chung Ju-Yung founded the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company in 1947. Hyundai Motor Company was later established in 1967. The company’s first model, the Cortina, was released in cooperation with Ford Motor Company in 1968. In 1975, the Pony, the first Korean car, was released, with styling by Giorgio Giugiaro of ItalDesign and powertrain technology provided by Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors. Exports began in the following year to Ecuador and soon thereafter to the Benelux countries. In 1991, the company succeeded in developing its first proprietary gasoline engine, the four-cylinder Alpha, and transmission, thus paving the way for technological independence.
In 1991, the company succeeded in developing its first proprietary gasoline engine, the four-cylinder Alpha, and transmission, thus paving the way for technological independence.
In 1983, Hyundai exported the Pony to Canada, but not to the United States because the Pony didn’t pass emissions standards there. Canadian sales greatly exceeded expectations, and it was at one point the top-selling car on the Canadian market. The Pony afforded a much higher degree of quality and refinement in the lowest price auto segment than the Eastern-bloc imports of the period then available.
In 1986, Hyundai began to sell cars in the United States, and the Excel was nominated as “Best Product #10” by Fortune magazine, largely because of its affordability. The company began to produce models with its own technology in 1988, beginning with the midsize Sonata.
In 1996, Hyundai Motors India Limited was established with a production plant in Irrungattukotai near Chennai, India.
In 1998, Hyundai began to overhaul its image in an attempt to establish itself as a world-class brand. Chung Ju Yung transferred leadership of Hyundai Motor to his son, Chung Mong Koo, in 1999. Hyundai’s parent company, Hyundai Motor Group, invested heavily in the quality, design, manufacturing, and long-term research of its vehicles. It added a 10-year or 100,000-mile (160,000 km) warranty to cars sold in the United States and launched an aggressive marketing campaign.
In 2004, Hyundai was ranked second in “initial quality” in a survey/study by J.D. Power and Associates. Hyundai is now one of the top 100 most valuable brands worldwide. Since 2002, Hyundai has also been one of the worldwide official sponsors of the FIFA World Cup.
In 2006, the South Korean government initiated an investigation of Chung Mong Koo’s practices as head of Hyundai, suspecting him of corruption. On April 28, 2006, Chung was arrested, and charged for embezzlement of 100 billion South Korean won (US$106 million). As a result, Hyundai Vice Chairman and CEO, Kim Dong-jin, replaced him as head of the company.
Some of the larger former members of the conglomerate include Hyundai Group, Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, and Hyundai Development Group.

2010 Safety information on the KIA Venga

Today, Euro NCAP is advising all customers of the 2010 Venga to contact their local Kia dealer without delay to ensure the fitment of a safety modification.
During recent tests, the organisation identified a weakness in the restraint system of the Venga that requires immediate attention. Last week, Kia swiftly launched a service campaign to respond to Euro NCAP’s concerns.
Euro NCAP discovered a cut in the webbing of the seat-belt on the driver’s side following the frontal impact crash test.
Euro NCAP inspectors concluded that the seatbelt was damaged by interaction with the seat runners when it was under load from the dummy.
Kia has produced a polypropylene sleeve to be added to the seat belt as an effective countermeasure to the problem. The car manufacturer has delayed deliveries of all new cars until the modification is fitted and is requesting those already with the vehicle, to return the car to dealers to have the protective sleeve fitted to the seat belt.
In total 2100 cars will be affected by this modification, of which 1100 have been delivered to customers and 1000 are dealer demonstrator vehicles.
Euro NCAP advises all customers that the star rating awarded to the car can only apply following the fitment of this safety modification.
Adult occupant
When the car used for the frontal impact was inspected after the test, a cut was found in the driver’s seatbelt, extending about a quarter of the way across the width. The partial cut, near the point where the belt attaches to the bottom of the B pillar, was thought by inspectors to have been caused by the belt being getting caught in the seat runner during test set up in the lab. KIA have reacted to the inspectors’ finding by designing protective sleeves which fit over the lower part of the belt. This modification has been immediately instigated on production cars. Owners who have already taken delivery of their cars are being urged by Kia to return their vehicles to dealers to have the sleeves fitted. In the frontal test, dummy readings suggested that the driver’s chest contacted the steering wheel. Structures in the dashboard represented a risk of injury to the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. The passenger dummy recorded a high differential movement between the upper and lower parts of the inboard leg, an indication of knee injury risk. The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal test. In the side barrier impact, the Venga scored maximum points. In the more severe side pole test, dummy readings indicated marginal protection of the chest and good protection of other parts of the body. Protection of the neck against whiplash injuries in a rear-end impact was good.
Child occupant
In the frontal impact, the head of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing seat, did not move forward excessively. However, on rebound, the dummy’s head struck the C-pillar trim. In the side barrier impact, both dummies were properly contained by their respective restraints. The passenger airbag may be disabled to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded by Euro NCAP. A permanent label warns clearly of the risks of using a rearward facing restraint in the front passenger seat without first disabling the airbag.
Pedestrian
The bumper scored maximum points for its protection of pedestrians’ legs. The front edge of the bonnet provided marginal protection. In most areas likely to be struck by the head of a child, the bonnet offered good protection but was predominantly poor in the areas where an adult’s head might strike.
Safety assist
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is an option on one variant of the Venga in four European countries; otherwise, it is standard equipment. As it is to be fitted as standard in the great majority of sales, it has been included in Euro NCAP’s assessment of the car. A driver-set speed limitation device is available as an option but its did not qualify for assessment as it is not standard on any variant. A seatbelt reminder system is standard equipment for the driver and front passenger seats.

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S & Cabrio Spy Video Review

The 911 Turbo S features a boost of 30 bhp over the standard 911 Turbo, dialing horsepower up to 530 bhp (390 kW / 523 hp), while torque stays put at 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) including the overboost, 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) without.
2011 Porsche 911 Turbo
Top speed is up just slightly (by 3 km/h) at 315 km/h or 195 mph. Fuel consumption also remains the same as the standard Turbo at 11.4 liters/100 km (24.8 mpg UK).
The next-generation Porsche 911 (998) Cabriolet is coming along quite nicely as these spy pictures will attest.
Taken during some hot weather testing the images show a slightly longer body made to increase rear seat space. The front end features 997-style headlights which are raised to meet safety regulations.
Expect to see radical changes to the rear lights where LED technology will be used. That massive camouflage rear spoiler won’t make production; it’s just there to hide the real deal.
The current hard-top bug sweeping other supercar makers has not yet bitten Porsche. Thus only the traditional canvass is to be fitted on the roof.
The 911 Cabriolet is one of the most expensive and exclusive 911s in the range. As such very high technologies like the 7-speed PDK transmission and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) are to be employed. All performance indicators will be improved with the next-generation, including top speed, fuel economy, C02 emissions and handling.
Almost every 911 model in the current range has a Cabriolet version, from the Carrera up to the Turbo. The latter makes a heady 368kW (500hp) and does 0 – 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Ford Mustang 2011 V6.0 Commercial
The Ford Mustang is an automobile manufactured car by the Ford Motor Company.
It was initially based on the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car.[1] Introduced early on April 17, 1964, the 1965 Mustang is the automaker’s most successful launch since the Model A.
The Mustang created the “pony car” class of American automobile — sports car-like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks — and gave rise to competitors such as GM’s Chevrolet Camaro, AMC’s Javelin, and Chrysler’s revamped Plymouth Barracuda.
It also inspired coupés such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to America.

Volvo C30 Polestar Performance Concept Prototype

After having designed and run Volvo’s STCC championship winning C30 and launched Polestar Performance power optimization for Volvo cars in 2009, the engineers at Polestar needed a new challenge.
This time they got a standard Volvo C30 and free hands to design and build a concept of their dreams street car.
The project has been named Performance Concept Prototype, PCP to emphasize its main purpose; to find out what happens when a team of racing engineers and designers get free hands to do what they want with a car they normally develop to fit specific race regulations.
– We love the Volvo C30, it’s a great car from start with a huge potential for development with its low weight and low centre of gravity.
It’s also a great road car. But now we go far further by combining the road car with cutting edge racing technology says Robert Dahlgren, race and development driver at Polestar.
– It’s particularly inspiring to develop this specific C30. This car is built just in the way we want to do it. Polestar has probably spent more time than anyone else in the world to get speed out of the C30, and this time we can realize ideas without being halted by specific race regulations says Jan Andersson, technical director at Polestar Racing.
The concept includes an 400PS-engine, AWD, aerodynamics based on Polestar race car data and much more.

2011 Volvo S60 "Collision Warning with Auto Brake" System Doesn’t Work, Car Crashes at Press Event!

The story of Volvo’s automatic brake should start:
Auto Brake is another feature that can be found in the new XC60 from Volvo.
The car brakes itsself, if it detects an object in front of the own vehicle and tries to stop the car, before anyone is going to be injured seriously.
Volvo safety car goes wrong:
See, the Swedes wanted to show journalists how the 2011 S60 sedan’s new ‘Collision Warning with Auto Brake’ system works in action, so they catapulted a test car out of a tunnel at around 35km/h towards a parked truck.
Volvo says this about the system: “Volvo’s new Collision Warning with Auto Brake automatically brakes the car if there is an imminent risk of a collision with a moving or stationary vehicle.
The system starts by alerting the driver and preparing the braking system for emergency braking.
If the driver does not respond despite the warning, the brakes are applied automatically.”

Mercedes Benz and Mercedes AMG History

Please take a look at entire Mercedes Benz and Mercedes AMG History
About Mercedes Benz History
Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of luxury automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. It is currently a division of the parent company, Daimler AG (formerly DaimlerChrysler AG), after previously being owned by Daimler-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz has its origins in Karl Benz’s creation of the first petrol-powered car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, patented in January 1886, and by Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach’s conversion of a stagecoach by the addition of a petrol engine later that year.
The Mercedes automobile was first marketed in 1901 by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicles were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz’s and Gottlieb Daimler’s companies into the Daimler-Benz company. Mercedes-Benz has introduced many technological and safety innovations that have become common in other vehicles several years later.
The newly created automobile company, Mercedes-Benz also needed a new image symbolising its enterprise union. The iconic three-pointed star is pervasive and unmistakably recognised around the world. But its design has evolved in many ways since the two companies merged in 1926. One early logo was trademarked in the United States on Friday, 16 August 1929.
An application was filed for Mercedes-Benz by Daimler-Benz Aktiengesellschaft of Berlin, Germany with the USPTO. Their application was filed in the primary class of non-metallic building materials and provide a description that included, “automotive vehicles, as follows: passenger cars and freight trucks; parts of and accessories to said vehicles…”
The drawing design Mercedes-Benz logo is a registered trademark at the USPTO, and owned by Daimler AGThe design of the Mercedes-Benz signature logo was described by the USPTO with three aspects, 1) Stars with three points (Celestial bodies, natural phenomena, Geographical maps — Stars, comets), 2) Garlands, wreaths, bands, borders or frames made of plants (Plants — Decorations made of plants), and 3) Circular or elliptical seals (Heraldry, flags, crowns, crosses, arrows, and symbols — Seals).
Daimler-Benz elaborates on their use of the new logo and its representations in their 1928 application. Based upon their description, it appears they combined design elements from each automobile company to create a new logo reflecting each company’s legacy.
They stated that the trademark was applied to goods in their business since October 1926 with the trademark, “having been used in the business of the applicant’s predecessors and in the business of applicant, continuously since the following dates. The word Mercedes since December 1900; the word Benz since July 1896; the representation of a three-pointed star since 27 June 1909, the representation of a wreath of laurel since September, 1909.”
In their U.S. trademark application, Daimler-Benz stated that their trademark was registered in Germany on 28 August 1928 with an application date of 21 August 1926
U.S. trademark registration was granted on 28 July 1931. Its current status is registered and renewed with the latest owner listed as Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany. Mercedes-Benz is currently owned by Daimler AG in Germany.
Since its inception, Mercedes-Benz had maintained a reputation for its quality and durability. Objective measures looking at passenger vehicles – such as J.D. Power surveys, demonstrated a downturn in reputation in this criteria in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
By mid-2005, Mercedes temporarily returned to the industry average for initial quality, a measure of problems after the first 90 days of ownership, according to J.D. Power. In J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study for the first quarter of 2007, Mercedes showed dramatic improvement by climbing from 25th to 5th place, surpassing quality leader Toyota, and earning several awards for its models. For 2008, Mercedes-Benz’s initial quality rating improved by yet another mark, now in fourth place.
On top of this accolade, it also received the Platinum Plant Quality Award for its Mercedes’ Sindelfingen, Germany assembly plant. As of 2009, Consumer Reports of the United States has changed their reliability ratings for several Mercedes-Benz vehicles to “average”, and are recommending the E-Class and the S-Class.
About Mercedes AMG Division History
Mercedes-AMG GmbH, commonly known as AMG, is a subsidiary of the Mercedes-Benz car company specializing in high-performance luxury cars.
AMG models are typically the most expensive and highest-performance of each Mercedes series. AMG models typically have more aggressive looks, higher performances, better handling and better stability than their regular Mercedes counterparts.
AMG was founded as a racing engine forge in 1967 under the name AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.), by former Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstall an der Murr, near Stuttgart. The letters “AMG” stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach, Aufrecht’s birthplace (but at no time an AMG location).
In 1976 most of AMG moved to Affalterbach, with the racing engine development remaining at the old location in Burgstall. At this time Erhard Melcher ceased to be a partner, but continued to be an employee at the Burgstall location.
In 1990, with AMG having become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes cars, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of cooperation, allowing AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz’s extensive dealer network and leading to commonly developed vehicles (the first one being the Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG, in 1993).
On 1 January 1999 DaimlerChrysler, as it was called between 1998 and 2007, acquired 51 percent of AMG shares, and AMG was renamed to Mercedes-AMG GmbH. Racing engine development was divested and continues to exist in Burgstall under the name HWA (Aufrecht’s initials). On 1 January 2005 Aufrecht sold his remaining shares to DaimlerChrysler, and since then it has been a wholly-owned subsidiary.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept Review on road test

Hyundai has built a 306-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive coupe that promises Infiniti G37-like style and performance (if not the same level of amenities) for many thousands of dollars less.
You’re either excited at the prospect or you still can’t get past the “Hyundai” thing. In addition to a 3.8-liter V6 that will propel the coupe to 60 mph in less than six seconds, the Genesis Coupe will offer a 2.0-liter turbo good for 212 horsepower.
Please see the following photo gallery with Hyundai Genesis Coupe
A high-performance SE trim will offer a track-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential. Pricing isn’t set but it’s scheduled to arrive Spring 2010.

Hyundai i30 Wins Satisfaction Poll in United Kingdom

The Hyundai i30 has been named top car in the ninth annual Driver Power 2010 survey for satisfaction and reliability, as voted for by 23,000 readers of Auto Express.
The i30 beat last year’s winner, the Jaguar XF, for the top slot, while the Skoda Octavia came third ahead of parent company Volkswagen’s new Golf.
Skoda retained its position as best manufacturer overall.
The second-generation Toyota Prius was voted number one for both reliability and ease of driving, the Fiat Panda took the honours for low running costs, the recently-replaced Land Rover Discovery was tops for practicality and the Lexus IS beat all the opposition in terms of build quality.
All the manufacturers named above will be happy about this, but there will be some grumbling elsewhere.
The Ford Focus had only a middling result, finishing 51st overall, though at least that was better than Vauxhall managed, with its Astra and Corsa (admittedly previous models rather than current ones) propping up the bottom of the table in 99th and 100th positions respectively.
Despite this, Vauxhall was not the lowest-rated manufacturer.
That was Peugeot, largely on account of the poor results achieved by the 207 and 307.

Lamborghini Jota: The Godfather Review

Please welcome Lamborghini Jota, the 2012 Murcielago replacement!
It has been going around the internet for a while now, but finally something tangible has been seen of what very well could be the next super car from Sant’Agata.
On a snowy test track spy photographers have been able to take images of a test car that clearly shows some special lines that could be interpreted as belonging to a new Lamborghini to succeed the by now aging Murcielago flagship.
It has even been given a name : the Jota, derived from that amazing and legendary Miura from the early Seventies and revived for a short period of time on the Diablo SE30 limited edition as a power upgrade, the Jota could now become a model on it’s own.
Naturally no official details are available, it hasn’t even been confirmed what this test car represents, but from the images we can see it has the massively wide rear wheels as seen on the Murcielago, so it probably isn’t a Gallardo successor although it does use the exterior rear view mirrors from the V10 model at this time, but I’m sure these will be replaced by the time we see it being unveiled in Geneva or Paris in 2010.

The Jota will be lighter and come with a direct-injection V12 engine with around 700 hp
Here are some of the very first spy shots of the Lamborghini Murcielago successor in full body form.
The supercar, allegedly to be renamed the Jota, was caught doing some winter testing in sub-zero temperatures on a VW/Audi test track somewhere in Scandinavia. Our spy photographer reports that the temperature was around -25C (-13F).
The Jota is expected to be about the same size as the Murcielago – as judged by our spy photographer. But it will come with some serious upgrading, including a new V12, direct-injection engine with around 700 hp. The successor to the Murcielago will also be lighter, substituting the current steel tube latticework for an aluminum space frame. Body paneling will be made of carbon fiber and the doors and roof possibly out of aluminum.
A new all-wheel drive system from Swedish supplier Haldex is also rumored.
Design-wise the Jota will be borrowing some styling cues from the Estoque and Reventon. But as is obvious from the photos here of an all-in-black test vehicle, the car remains the archetypal, lane-straddling Lamborghini.

Hyundai Unveils All-New Avante (Elantra)

Hyundai has unveiled the 2011 Elantra (known as the Avante in South Korea) at the Busan Motor Show in its home country. This is the fifth generation of the popular compact car, Hyundai’s best-selling model worldwide, with over 6 million units sold since 1990.
Completely redesigned, the Elantra uses design cues from the new Accent, unveiled this month at the Auto China 2010 in Beijing, but also from the new Sonata.
The new Elantra wears a “fluidic sculpture” design with four-door coupe styling, High Intensity Discharge headlights (HID) and LED taillights.
Interior pictures are yet to be released, but Hyundai says in the press release that the cabin offers “advanced features not found on other compacts.” Equipment includes heated rear seats, ambient lighting, and a color TFT LCD information display.
Under the hood, the Elantra is powered by a 1.6-liter Gamma GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine, developing 140 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque (167 Nm).
The unit is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It’s the first time GDI technology and six-speed automatic are put together on a compact sedan in Korea. The direct injection and the automatic gearbox make the Elantra “10 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitors,” according to Hyundai.
“The new Avante encompasses Hyundai’s latest ambitions, featuring the best styling and performance in its class. We’re confident that it will once again redefine the compact segment worldwide” said Steve S. Yang, president and CEO of Hyundai’s Global Business Division.
Please check the commercial of the newest Hyundai model:
And remember how this model was tested:
Korean sales will begin in the second half of 2010, with global availability shortly thereafter.

2010 New Opel Meriva Sport Edition Concept

GM’s next-generation Opel Meriva compact MPV has been caught undergoing testing once gain. Though it remains in full camouflage, many details are still discernible, including the overall shape, which remains close to the original Meriva concept from last year’s Geneva Motor Show.
A very carefully placed extra segment of cladding appears to be hiding one of the most controversial lements of the concept’s design: the rear-window ‘kink’.
The front door’s handle and the general construction of the doors and rubber strips indicate the rear-opening rear doors of the concept are gone.
The suicide door configuration makes for better display in a car show booth, but is both inconvenient and hard to get past the legal department in the real world.
