The Top Gear Live Stunt Team has set a new world record by becoming the first to complete a spectacular double loop-the-loop on four wheels!!
The ground-breaking feat — dubbed Deadly 720 — was the amazing finale to the first of four Top Gear Festival shows staged in front of a sell-out 15,000+ live audience at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, South Africa (June 16-17).
When not blowing up caravans or getting into trouble for perceived dodgy attitudes to those that live outside of England, Top Gear occasionally likes to take the show on the road.
Their most recent live show saw Richard Hammond , James May and Jeremy Clarkson jet off to South Africa to wave at a whole lot of people in Durban
The man behind the wheel managed to become the first person in the world to complete an impressive double loop-the-loop on four wheels.

Nissan-Making it Easier than Ever to Keep Tyres Properly Inflated
Keeping tyres properly inflated helps them last longer, makes a car safer to drive, and improves fuel economy.
Most of the newer models are equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system, also known as TPMS.
This system alerts drivers whenever tyre pressure is too low so they can add air as soon as possible. Nissan has gone a step farther with this technology by providing an Easy-fill Tyre Alert to help drivers know when they have added the right amount of air to their tyres.
The way it works is simple. A driver is notified via the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System that a tyre is low on air.
When a driver begins adding air to the tyre, the vehicle will sound the horn whenever the right amount of pressure is reached. This lets the individual know he or she has added enough air to the tyre without overinflating it.
If too much air is added, the horn will make three short blasts to let the person know that some of the air needs to be removed from the tyre. Once the proper amount of air has been removed, the horn will again sound once to alert the operator that the right level was reached.
Nissan first introduced this technology in 2011 on its minivan Quest. In 2012, it was offered on both the Quest and the Leaf.
Customers have been extremely pleased with the addition of this technology, and as a result, the automaker plans to include this on even more models in 2013.
They hope that by doing so, they can increase consumer safety while standing out from their competition in terms of technological developments.
Some Nissan models will have advanced versions of the Tyre Pressure Monitoring Service available.
These advanced systems will not only alert a driver when a tyre has low pressure, but it will also indicate which one was determined to be so. This will eliminate the need to check every tyre in order to find the one that needs to have air added. Future Nissan models could also give a digital readout of the exact tyre pressure for each tyre in real time.
This could let owners know when tyres are starting to get low on air so they can keep an eye out for TPMS warnings.
Although the Easy-Fill Tyre Alert Technology makes it easy to add the right amount of air, drivers should not discount the need to regularly check tyre pressure. By doing so, they will know if the TPMS is malfunctioning so they can have a mechanic make any necessary repairs.
It is also a good idea to know how much air should be added to each tyre so that operators will know if the Easy-Fill Tyre Alert is beeping at the proper intervals.

Over 4 million kids across the United States were challenged by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Jeep® brand to answer the question, “What would you do in this big world if you could do anything you wanted?”
The “Dream Adventure” Contest, a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Jeep brand, awards thrill-seeking youth with an adventure-filled “dream” for their Club.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of America believes in providing hope and opportunity for youth, and this contest is perfect way to show our members that you can be rewarded for dreaming big,” said Judith J. Pickens, Senior Vice President, Program & Youth Development Services for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
“Fostering high expectations and cultivating the creativity of Club members is one of our top priorities and our Club professionals work diligently to ensure that our Clubs remain a fun and creative space for our youth.”
To enter the contest, young people ages 6-12 shared illustrations and members ages 13-18 submitted 60-second videos describing their ultimate Dream Adventure. Four winners in each age group were selected based on criteria including creativity, visual impact and compelling title.
The top four winners in each age group will receive prizes to enjoy with friends, family and fellow Boys & Girls Club members as part of a fun packed and adventurous day that will include inspiring guest speakers along with adventurous games and food.

As technology evolves at an exponential rate, there are huge influxes of gadgets to attach and use in a car.
How many of them are actually necessary? Well, ‘necessity’ rarely matters when it comes to our cars, so there’s really no need to argue!
However, there are certain gadgets that have proven universally useful because of the efficiency and safety value they add.
1. X Marks the Spot
People get lost all the time, and let’s face it, we’ve all been there. The solution? Get a navigation system. Once you’ve used a navigation system to drive around for awhile, you’ll pick it up easily.
Driving’s primary function is to get from point A to point B, and those points are going to change a lot through the course of your driving career. Going on vacation, relocating for a new job, visiting a friend, the list goes on. Having a navigation system can make driving less painful and time consuming, which makes it one of the best gadgets to have in a car.
2. You Want Me to Park Where?
Remember the last part of the driving test when you were trying to get your license? You either passed it, or your proctor let you off easy. There really is no middle ground when it comes to parallel parking.
Some people can pull it off and some can’t. That’s the way it was, but not anymore. Now you can get a self-parking gadget installed. All you need to do is enter a few parameters and you’re good to go. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people drive back home because they found out the place they wanted to go required them to parallel park.
A self-parking system will help an unfathomable number of people to properly park in difficult situations.
3. Eyes in the Back of Your Head
Some people get lost, some can’t park, and some people simply can’t back up. Back up cameras can help drivers get out of parking spots efficiently and safely. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and the parking lot will be accommodating and give you plenty of room to maneuver.
Still, there will be plenty of times when it’s dark and/or space is tight. Whatever the case may be, you can never go wrong with a backup camera. More vision while using a car is never a bad thing, and anyone should take the opportunity to install one in their car.
4. Did Anybody get that License Plate Number?
For those of you who don’t get into accidents, congratulations. Unfortunately, the rest of us normal people will inevitably get into one or more accidents no matter how careful we are.
Sometimes, it’s simply out of our control. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t maximize what we can do to rectify the situation afterwards. For that, we have the car video recorder.
We would all like to think that if someone were to run into us, that they would at least have the decency to stop and exchange insurance information. Sadly, this isn’t always the case.
Hit and runs happen all the time, and the human eye can’t always catch the license plate number on that speeding car.
Investing a little into a car video recorder to save thousands in the future is a smart move on anyone’s part.
Even if it’s not a hit and run, sometimes recorded footage can help clear up any issues or misunderstandings with the other party. All in all, a car video recorder is always a solid investment.
5. Wiggle, Wiggle, Wiggle, Wiggle
Every one accidentally moves out of their lane sometimes. Some people tire easily when they drive, and others get distracted by their music or cell phone conversations. For everything, there’s the lane departure warning system.
Whether you’re failing asleep, texting, or distracted, the lane departure warning system will notify you if you’re deviating from your lane using a buzzer, a visual cue, or a seat vibrator. Not to say that this will fix all of those problems, because it obviously doesn’t, but it does drastically improve safety.
We’re humans and we make mistakes. Every once in a while we need a reminder to get back on track, whether it is figuratively in life or literally on the road.
Are these gadgets absolutely necessary? Not at all. Yet, having them makes driving safer and more efficient. You put those two together and what you get is a pleasant driving experience.
Be sure to pick up a couple – or all – of these gadgets whenever you can. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain. Some cars even come with a lot of these features pre-installed. Treat yourself!

Audi has launched the SQ5TDI, a 3.0-litre, 309bhp rival to the X3 xDrive35d, and the first S model to be fitted with a diesel engine.
Just hours before the company’s latest TDI-driven Le Mans 24 Hour victory, Audi announced that the next S model, the SQ5 will be powered by a 3.0-litre bi-turbo diesel V6 engine – a first for any S model.
Using the same engine as the A6 3.0-litre TDI, and like all high-performance Audis, the SQ5 comes with the all-wheel-drive Quattro system, coupled to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission as standard. The new model will be priced from £45,000, with orders starting in the UK from October. It will be a direct rival to the tri-turbo BMW X3 xDrive35d, which offers a similar amount of performance from a diesel engine.
With 309bhp and 480lb ft of torque, Audi claims that the SQ5TDI will do 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds, and hit an electronically-limited 155mph top speed – while still managing a combined 39mpg. Because of the SQ5’s high-performance intent, Audi has installed a sound actuator in the exhaust system, which should give the SQ5 a deep, almost V8-like soundtrack.
Thanks to DVR, it’s easier than ever to zip through all of the commercials for toilet paper and air freshener and cell phones these days.
There are some commercials, though, that inspire viewers to keep their fingers off the fast forward button – and many of them just happen to be car ads.
These commercials might make you laugh, might make you cry or make you think, but no matter what, they do what they are intended to do: get your attention.
Here are some of the best car commercials of all time; see if you remember them!
Volkswagen, “The Force.” Premiering during the 2011 Superbowl, this commercial for the 2012 Volkswagen Passat got people talking and laughing.
Featuring a little boy dressed in Darth Vader garb and trying to “use the force” to control things around him, the commercial is funny, heartwarming, and appealing to anyone who has seen (and loved) a Star Wars film.
Nissan, “Toys.” In 1997, Nissan got people talking and laughing with a fun spot featuring Barbie and Ken-style dolls zooming around a playroom in a remote control Nissan model sports car to the sounds of a Van Halen song.
Unfortunately the ad caught the attention of Mattel, the makers of the dolls and was pulled due to copyright violations.
2012 Honda Odyssey “Rock Van.” Let’s face it: minivans lack a bit of “coolness.” Honda tried to combat that image with a commercial in 2011 that featured a thirtysomething dad rocking out to Ozzy Osbourne while fireworks burst and panthers – yes, panthers – pounce around the van.
The commercial might not make minivans cool, but for 30 seconds, the dream was alive and well.
2012 Kia Optima, “Mr. Sandman.” Along the same lines as the Odyssey ad, and for a vehicle with an equally problematic reputation, this commercial thrilled audiences during the 2012 Superbowl. Featuring a sleeping couple, the ad starts with the sandman entering their bedroom to sprinkle dream dust.
When he trips and dumps the bag of sand on the male half of the couple, his dream of a sedate sedan turns into a male fantasy on steroids. Over the strains of hair metal band Motley Crue, a gorgeous brunette gives him the green flag to race the Optima around a racetrack… and into his wife’s dream, where he steals her away from a long-haired hunk.
The funny spot tapped into every car commercial stereotype and audiences adored it.
2012 Fiat Arbath, “Seduction.” If car commercials are designed to get attention, then this one succeeded in spades. A gorgeous woman seduces an Average Joe that she catches staring at him, getting up close and whispering in Italian before locking lips.
As the camera pans away, the woman is gone and in her place is a sexy little Italian car. The commercial turned all of the regular conventions of car commercials on their ears and likely increased enrollment in Italian language classes.
2011 Chrysler, “Born of Fire.” Called by some, one of the best commercials ever – in any category – this spot is a tribute to the resilience of the people of Detroit and a reminder that American cars are still very relevant.
Over the sound of a gospel choir singing over the beat of Detroit-native Eminem’s hit “Lose Yourself,” the dark and brooding commercial featured actual Detroit residents and scenes from the city.
It was inspiring, though-provoking and effective: search traffic for Chrysler jumped over 300 percent after the spot ran.
2011 Audi, “Luxury Prison.” Perhaps cashing in on some of the resentment toward the 1% these days, this fun spot from Audi showed wealthy fat cats in a prison of their own making, driving other luxury brands like Mercedes instead of the more fun Audi models.
With a cameo by Kenny G, the spot was just timely – and random – enough to get audiences chuckling during the 2011 Superbowl.
Every year car manufacturers release a new crop of car commercials and a year from now, this list could change completely.
Maybe the next crop will bring forth commercials for import and domestic car parts. But for now, these are some of the funniest and most effective car commercials to grace your television set.

Subaru of America, Inc. has released a new YouTube video of the 2011 Subaru WRX STI setting an all-time course record for the historic Isle of Man TT Mountain Course.
The 5 minute 25 second video highlights in graphic detail the speed and drama surrounding rally driver Mark Higgins##Q## lap that averaged 115.356 MPH.
After the run, Higgins talks through the “moment” at Brey Hill when he momentarily loses, and then regains, control of the WRX STI at more than 150 MPH.

Euro NCAP to drive availability of AEB systems for safer cars in Europe
Euro NCAP today publishes the results of its survey on the availability of Autonomous Emergency Braking systems in Europe and reveals that the assessment programme will include AEB technologies in its star rating from 2014.
Real world performance data suggests AEB systems can reduce accidents by up to 27%. Although the introduction of these active safety technologies is reducing road deaths and injuries, the availability of AEB in Europe is far from standardized.
A recent survey undertaken by Euro NCAP reveals that AEB is completely unavailable on 79% of the car models on sale in Europe and that 66% of manufacturers do not offer an AEB system on any of their new car models.
Autonomous Emergency Braking systems can help to avoid crashes or to mitigate their severity by warning the driver and supporting his braking response and/or by applying the brakes independently.
The technology generally uses forward-looking radar, lidar and video systems to provide a complete, accurate, real-time image of the road ahead. Since 2010, several car manufacturers have been recognized for the safety benefits of their AEB systems through Euro NCAP Advanced rewards.
Euro NCAP finds that premium brands such as Volvo, Infiniti and Mercedes have the best levels of standard AEB fitment, and are joined by Jaguar, Range Rover, Audi and Lexus when optional fit is also considered.
Cars in the Executive and Large Family categories have the highest level of availability, at least as an option. However, some volume sector manufacturers are showing that AEB can be offered as standard or as an affordable option on mass-market vehicles.
Amongst others, Mazda, Ford, Honda and Volkswagen are selling AEB systems partly as standard or optional on some high-volume cars such as the Mazda CX-5, the Ford Focus, the Honda Civic and the VW up!. It is understood that Fiat will also make AEB a low-cost option on the new Panda in July 2012.
AEB systems are increasingly being made available as cars are replaced by new or facelifted models, such as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the Ford Fiesta and Ford Kuga.
Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP says ‘A faster penetration of these technologies into new cars will make it more realistic for the European Union to reach its target to cut road deaths by 50% by 2020.
Consequently, Euro NCAP has decided to include AEB assessments as part of the overall star rating from 2014 onwards and hopes that European authorities will soon require AEB as mandatory on all new vehicle types.’
Since Euro NCAP published the first safety rating in 1997, considerable efforts have been made by car manufacturers, technology providers, authorities and road operators to make cars safer.
Despite an important reduction of road deaths the past 15 years, in Europe today, over 30,000 people are still killed on the road and many more are injured every year.
The inclusion of AEB systems in the Euro NCAP star rating will alert and encourage consumers to choose AEB when buying a new car as it will improve their safety, make a real difference and help them avoid or mitigate a crash.

Jaguar C-X75 Created to celebrate 76 years of Jaguar, the C-X75 combines the future and the past, takes its inspiration from a little known legend from the 1960’s – the Jaguar XJ13.
“The story of the XJ13 is one of beautiful design and missed opportunities. It was produced to win Le Mans, a race that it would never take part in due to a change in the rules and it is this car, not the e-Type, which is held above all others by Jaguar. There was only one XJ13 ever made.”
Now, to celebrate the birth of the new Jaguar C-X75, luxury brand Alfred Dunhill has produced a short movie that links its inception to the legendary 1960’s icon – the Jaguar XJ13.
Ford has released a new video of the Ford Focus ST, featuring the traditional five-door hatchback and the station wagon version.
Under the hood, in both variants, lies a 2.0-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine (250 hp and 360 Nm) mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The new generation of the Blue Oval’s sports car is equipped with a new specially calibrated steering system, the Torque Steer Compensation, which provides more control at the wheel during sudden acceleration, and new sports suspension.
The car also features Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and Cornering Under Steer Control systems to reduce under steer and to detect torque steer prior the ESP. The same changes apply for the station wagon variant, as well.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the second generation of the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 3 Series Club (E21/E30) e.V. is organising a special gathering from 14 to 19 June 2012.
The highlight of the event will be a visit to the BMW Group on Saturday, 16 June 2012.

On that day the public are invited to view the gathered ranks of the participants’ 50-plus vehicles, which will be parked outside the BMW Museum on Petuelring between 13 and 17 hrs.
During this time Club members will be on hand to talk to visitors and answer any questions. In addition to a tour of the BMW Museum, the 100 or so participants will also be able to visit the vehicle collection at BMW Group Classic (normally closed to the public), where the 3 Series models will be parked during the morning.
BMW 3 Series, second generation: a model family arrives on the scene.
1982 marked its inception: seven years after the successful market launch of the first-generation 3 Series and with sales having exceeded a million, the second generation of the BMW 3 Series was poised in the starting blocks.
Unlike its predecessor, the new range lined up with an unprecedented array of model variants: the showrooms offered two-door and four-door models, full convertible and touring variants, as well as all-wheel-drive versions.
Such a diverse portfolio back in the 1980s put BMW far ahead of its time. And success wasn’t long in coming: by 1983 – the first full production year – BMW had ramped up output by 50 per cent.
Instead of turning out 800 BMW 3 Series models a day, the largely automated production process was dispatching 1,200 units from the assembly lines. BMW also had a brace of surprises lined up in the shape of a frugal BMW 3 Series diesel model and the BMW M3 sports variant.
The “pinnacle of the 3 Series range” developed for the DTM by BMW Motorsport GmbH still ranks today as the world’s most successful touring car and the epitome of the ultimate sports sedan.

The enhanced Blind Sport Information System is radar-based. The technology can now also monitor and alert the driver to rapidly approaching vehicles up to 70 m behind the car.

The technology is based on radar sensors located in the rear corners of the car, behind the bumper cover. The radars continuously scan the area behind and alongside the vehicle. The BMW X5 is a luxury crossover SUV introduced in 1999 as the first generation E53. It was BMW##Q##s first SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) also known as “Four-by-Four” (4×4) in the UK.
It features all-wheel drive which is branded as the “X” drive system and is available with either manual or automatic transmission. The second generation X5, known as the E70, was launched in 2006, with the first M version announced in 2009. BMW describes the X5 as a Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) rather than an SUV, to emphasize its on-road ability despite its size.
Like the Lexus RX 300 and Mercedes M-Class, the X5 heralded the shift from light truck-based body-on-frame SUVs to crossovers underpinned by unibody car platforms that would come to fruition in the late 2000s.
X5s are manufactured in Greer, South Carolina at the Spartanburg BMW plant and in Mexico at the BMW de México Toluca plant.
Since July 2009, some assembly operations are also performed in Kaliningrad, Russia by Avtotor.
In 2003, BMW launched the smaller X3, which uses the “X” prefix for the 4 wheel drive system or BMW “X” drive system and the BMW SAVs which were derivatives of the BMW number-series models.

Judging by car commercials and the design of a lot of vehicles today, it seems as if a lot of manufacturers believe that families with kids are the only ones who are buying cars.
And while those who have to keep a couple of kids entertained and safe while toting them to ballet or soccer practice need a larger vehicle with tons of seating, storage space and DVD players, what about those who haven’t started a family yet?
While some cars certainly appeal to multiple demographics, there are some cars that are definitely better suited to the single guy or gal.
If you are one of those who don’t need third row seating or dual-sliding doors yet, check out some of these models:
All the Single Ladies
It’s hard to deny that certain cars are known as “girl cars” – and many of them are perfect for the single life. For example, a Volkswagen Beetle convertible tells the world that you are fun and carefree, especially when it’s painted a super bright or candy-color.
While Beetles are versatile, the two-door styling makes it a bit difficult to manage with a car seat – making them better for your single years.
Other fun cars for single girls include the Mazda Miata and Mini Cooper. Single girls on the prowl (or at least looking for a nice guy to bring home to mom) might actually be well-served to look for a car that’s typically a more masculine ride.
Something like a Mustang, that has a little more power and tends to attract attention. The trick with one of these cars is to know a bit about it, since guys who check you out are probably going to ask questions, and you want to answer them intelligently.
Single Guys
It might be a cliché, but guys who want fancy sports cars are probably better off to get them while they are single. Once you have a family, a mortgage and bills to pay, the chances of you getting that sweet ride are much lower than they are now.
The thing is: the car you drive says a lot to the world, particularly those women you want to impress. Super expensive sports cars, like Porsches, Ferraris and Lamborghinis (if you have the money for one) impress a certain type of woman, but they can only go so far.
If you want to show the world how much money you have, you might be better served to go with something a bit more subtle, like an Acura TL, Mercedes SL 500 or a BMW 3 series.
For more down-to-earth guys, your single years are a great time to get that fun or funky vehicle that might not be a great family car.
Think a Jeep Wrangler, a Honda Element or a Scion Xb or Xd, which offers plenty of room for your crew of wingmen with great gas mileage and sound systems. And if you want speed with your sportiness, check out a Subaru WRX, which gives you plenty of power with all-wheel drive.
Some cars appeal to singles of both genders. If you live in the city, where parking is at a premium and you don’t need a ton of storage space, try a Smart Car, a cheap little two-seater that gets stellar gas mileage and plenty of attention.
If you want to show the world that you care about the environment, consider a Toyota Prius or Chevy Volt. The two door models are sporty and stylish plus give you great gas mileage.
No matter which car you choose to buy in your single years, be sure to choose a car that you like, not necessarily what you think will get attention. If you don’t like the car that you choose, it won’t matter if the guy or girl that you’re dating does.
Research the models you like, try several cars within your budget look at an auto parts glossary and drive away knowing that you have time to enjoy your new wheels before you settle down and buy the dreaded minivan.

With this new 4×4 SUV, Peugeot completes its range of vehicles suited to the various expectations of all-terrain customers. With its strong personality, for the international destinations, the 4008 is aimed both at customers who already own an all-terrain vehicle and at those looking for an alternative to Saloons or MPVs, a vehicle synonymous with leisure.
In Europe, it is targeted more specifically at customers who appreciate a strong and dynamic ability, with dimensions suited to multi-purpose use and efficient fuel economy.
In addition to the 4007, but also the 3008 and its recent HYbrid4 version, the 4008 fulfils the expectations of the different markets showing strong growth in the compact SUV segment.
Born of the PSA – Mitsubishi partnership, the 4008 naturally has a strong Peugeot identity.
The new stylistic codes of the marque are judiciously adapted, such as the floating grille and the feline design of the lamp units with visual signature: at the front, a line of LED daylight running lamps that complement the headlamps and three red claws sculpted rear lamps.
The off-road character has been emphasised by adopting a vertical design of grille, inclusion of body sill protectors and prominent wheel arch protection trims, to accommodate large wheels enhanced by the sophisticated design of the wheel rims. The almost-horizontal bonnet grooves and the style line – which extends to the rear wing where it descends again crossing the lamp – are a distinctive feature and appear to hollow out along the body side, accentuating the strong and dynamic aspect of the 4008.
The work carried out by the design style team, down to the smallest detail, gives the 4008 a high class elegance in line with its positioning.
The exterior is, among other things, set off with chromed components and the interior ambiance is enhanced by the choice of materials, like the soft texture fascia, to the instrument panel visor and the lacquered black decoration of the centre console. A glass panoramic roof provides extensive light for the occupants in the passenger compartment and is supplemented with side LEDs for night/dark light illumination for reading.
With its particular style, strong and distinctive, the 4008 is firmly rooted in the world of the compact SUV. Its features and its equipment – like the Open & Go system, 18″ alloy wheels, a touch screen navigation system, and reversing camera – are a result of the Brand’s modernity and upmarket vision of all-terrain vehicles.
The platform of the 4008, taken in part from the 4007, has been reduced in length by shorter front and rear overhangs (-30cm in length).
Its long wheelbase and its wide tracks have been retained to guarantee good occupant space in the front and rear.
These characteristics and its exterior dimensions – 4.34m long, 1.80m wide with a height of 1.63m – make the 4008 particularly versatile. Its compactness – a promise of true manoeuvrability – and its occupant space make it a vehicle suitable for everyday use, including in town, and for leisure journeys or holidays.
In the four-wheel drive version, the driver can select three transmission modes: “2WD” two-wheel drive, “4WD” four-wheel drive and “LOCK” locking of the four-wheel drive.
In the two four-wheel drive modes – 4WD and LOCK – the distribution of the torque between the front and the rear is managed electronically.
In LOCK mode, the four-wheel drive transmission becomes permanent, with even greater distribution of torque to the rear wheels.
This type of transmission will represent more than 80% of sales of the 4008. Peugeot##Q##s new 4×4 SUV will in fact only be offered in a 4×4 version in certain countries, including Europe.

FIAT of Austin Tops 100 Units to Earn Visit by Chrysler Group CEO Sergio Marchionne
Chrysler Group LLC CEO Sergio Marchionne today personally congratulated FIAT of Austin for becoming the first FIAT studio in the country to sell more than 100 Fiat 500s in any given month.
FIAT of Austin, located in this state’s capital city, sold 110 Fiat 500s in April, setting a sales record for FIAT studios in the U.S.
Marchionne celebrated this milestone today with dealer principals Nyle Maxwell and Lisa Copeland, and the dedicated FIAT of Austin sales team.
Copeland and her committed sales team almost hit this important milestone a month earlier, falling shy by just a few units. Determined to hit the mark in April, Copeland snapped up every Fiat 500 she could find, buying them from other dealerships around the state and the country.
What triggered today’s visit in Austin from the company’s CEO was a bet.
Tim Kuniskis, Head of FIAT Brand North America, bet Copeland that if she could hit the century mark in sales he would find a way to introduce her to the celebrity of her choice. Kuniskis had no idea how he would ever pay this bet off, but given the studio’s low inventory level in the wake of strong sales, he wasn’t really that concerned. For Kuniskis, it seemed more like a fun conversation, than a real bet.
When Copeland and her team not only hit the mark, but exceeded it by 10 units, it was time for Kuniskis to pay up. Much to his surprise, Copeland didn’t want a Hollywood type. She wanted to meet Marchionne.
“No one was more surprised at her choice than I was,” Marchionne said. “But this is one promise I was happy to keep, even if someone else made it for me.”
Marchionne told Copeland that she was “the only true celebrity here today.”
“Lisa is also an incredible salesperson herself, an excellent manager and a dynamic leader, and what she and her team have achieved here at the Fiat of Austin store is unprecedented,” Marchionne said. “I know the passion and the personal involvement all of you feel every day in what you do. The team has a passion to succeed, and there’s no question that Lisa helps inspire the enthusiasm they bring to representing Fiat.”
On April 30, to celebrate their success, Copeland and her team, as well as a few straggling customers, celebrated their retail victory with champagne and hamburgers until the wee-hours of the morning.
Copeland and her team demonstrated that even in Texas, the land of pickups and SUVs, the Fiat 500 can perform better than in any other state. Copeland and her team hold a second sales record as well. Fiat of Austin has sold more Fiat 500s by Gucci than any other FIAT studio.
Copeland’s studio here in the heart of Texas sold 411 Fiat 500s during the first five months of this year to become the nation’s top-selling FIAT studio. FIAT of Los Angeles is second with 356 sales.
“This means that FIAT of Austin sold nearly 300 new Fiat 500s in just 90 days,” Kuniskis said. “That is an amazing accomplishment and demonstrates what a determined FIAT studio is capable of.”
The FIAT brand set another sales record in May by selling 4,003 units in the U.S., a 128 percent increase compared with May sales a year ago. The sales record in May was the brand’s fourth consecutive record this year. May marked the first full month of Fiat 500 Abarth sales, the ultimate high-performance small car.
“The Fiat 500 Abarth is unstoppable,” Kuniskis said. “Dealer orders for the Abarth dramatically exceeded the number of units we had scheduled for production. We had to schedule additional production to try and keep up with the demand. Most Abarth units are sold within one day.”
There currently are 161 open FIAT studios in the U.S., and 16 of them are in Texas.

New performance comes through 429-horsepower V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® for 2012 version.
2012 Hyundai Equus get the pros from its generous standard features, competitive powertrain, comparatives price for the segment, roomy interior, and comfortable seating configuration.
But, it has lacks likes: doesn’t offer all-wheel drive, unimpressive driving experience, and some cabin materials quality when related to other midsize luxury sedan contenders.
Only two trim levels provided, from the base Equus Signature ($59,000 MSRP) and Equus Ultimate ($66,000 MSRP).
Take your time to explore some of the super luxury cars rivals against Hyundai Equus 2012: Lexus LS, Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Jaguar XJ, Porsche Panamera, and BMW 7 Series.
The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is about to go where no Mustang has gone before, with a complete package for everyday drivers and track-day enthusiasts alike, 662 horsepower and top track speeds of more than 200 mph.
“SVT keeps the Shelby GT500 on the cutting edge of technology and takes muscle car performance to new heights,” said Hermann Salenbauch, director of Advanced Product Creation.
“We encapsulated every aspect of performance in this car – whether it’s 0-60 mph, top speed, racetrack or quarter-mile times. Beyond that, the daily driver also will find this car perfectly fits his or her needs.”
The 5.8-liter V8 aluminum-block engine produces 662 horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the highest-horsepower engine ever produced in North America. Nearly every part of the powertrain has been optimized for producing the additional horsepower, including a new supercharger, new cross-drilled block and heads, an all-forged engine rotating assembly, updated camshaft profiles, upgraded head gaskets, a new carbon fiber driveshaft and upgraded clutch, transmission and axle.
A larger and more efficient supercharger helping flow more air through the engine is key to producing the 662 horsepower. The new Twin Vortices Series 2300 blower creates 2.3 liters of displacement and is a unique design to the 5.8-liter engine.
The entire cooling system has been significantly updated on the new 5.8-liter engine. It now includes a high-capacity cooling fan, fan shroud with high-speed pressure-relief doors, a more efficient charge air cooler, a higher-flow intercooler pump and an intercooler heat exchanger whose volume is increased 36 percent. These components harmonize to consistently dissipate heat under extreme-use conditions.
“Every change we made is an improvement in horsepower and in airflow,” said Jeff Albers, SVT Powertrain team leader. “The other changes are about making sure the parts can withstand the pressures when the engine is making that power.”
The supercharger design includes four lobes with a 160-degree twist and has a drive ratio that spins 2.64 times faster than the previous model. The inlet air volume also has been increased 33 percent. Boost has been increased from 9 to 14 psi.
Other modifications for improved power include an upgraded camshaft profile, similar to the Ford GT. The cam lift for the intake and exhaust has been increased for improved airflow. Additionally, the redline is held at 6,250 rpm continuously, but allows for an over-rev to 7,000 rpm for eight seconds to extend the time to shift so that acceleration is higher and 0-60 mph and quarter-mile times can be faster.
The diameter of the bore has been upped from 90.5 to 93.5 millimeters to increase displacement and the fuel injector flow has been increased nearly 10 percent to get an equivalent amount of fuel to accompany the extra air.
Once the engine was able to make the power and pressures were increased, SVT made changes to ensure the engine was durable under those conditions. The connecting rods have been redesigned with a tapered, small end where they attach to the pistons. This improved design supports the load on the dome of the piston more efficiently.
Cooling fan capacity has been increased and a higher-efficiency intercooler added to keep the air entering the engine as cool as possible. An efficient, high-capacity flow pump has been added. These measures manage temperatures under extreme conditions.
To ensure the coolant flow is well balanced cylinder to cylinder, the block and heads have been cross-drilled for water to flow through.
A single-piece carbon fiber driveshaft has been upgraded from the current two-piece steel design, which is lighter and stiffer and offers a higher torque capacity and improved NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) qualities.
“With the driveshaft we were able to eliminate a joint and add enough stiffness and drive capacity to get us to our top speed and handle the torque,” said Jamal Hameedi, SVT chief engineer. “The car makes so much power and torque that we needed to go through the entire driveline system to ensure it moves to the wheels in a manageable way.”
The clutch has increased torque and rpm capacity and uses a dual-disc design. The diameter and clamp load have been increased and the clutch-facing material has been revised for additional resistance to burst and improved transfer of power.
Another key piece of the driveline, the transmission, offers upgraded gears, bearings and housing so it can properly manage the torque. The final drive ratio has been changed to 3.31:1 for optimized overall vehicle gearing to complement the high-powered torque produced. Every gear besides fourth has been optimized for competing performance metrics.
The engine also carries over the use of the state-of-the-art Plasma Transferred Wire Arc liner coating, a process that applies a 150-micron composite coating that contains nanoparticles on the internal surfaces of engine cylinder bores, replacing cast-iron liners typically used in aluminum engine blocks.
The new engine also continues to be exempt from the gas-guzzler tax, delivering a projected 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway. That is 5 mpg better than the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
Design enhancements for 2013 include all-new signature lighting with two LED bars that command attention in the front and rear. The rocker panels running along the car are now body-color, adding a more premium look. Additionally, the rear end has a new high-gloss black panel between the taillamps and a diffuser that surrounds a new quad-tip exhaust.
The 2013 Shelby GT500 offers two new sets of forged-aluminum wheels, including a unique wheel for cars with the optional packages. The 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are coupled with Goodyear Eagle® F1 SuperCar G: 2 tires on all configurations.
Freshened with the dark finish and updated spoke designs, the wheels appear even more sinister and aggressive but offer the benefit of being extremely lightweight.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of SVT, badging will be used throughout the interior and exterior of the car to celebrate the many years of performance vehicles. The official launch of SVT came during the 1992 Chicago Auto Show with the unveiling of the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra and SVT F-150 Lightning. The 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra offered a 235-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine, showing just how far the products have come over 20 years.
Significant work has been done in aerodynamics to ensure the Shelby GT500 has proper downforce for performance at all speeds. Using high-tech computational fluid dynamics (CFD), engineers were able to determine exactly where the air was going, to optimize cooling. The result is a car that tracks more securely and feels more planted to the road at higher speeds.
A new front splitter and black-painted upper and lower grille inserts that expose the radiator drive the functional style changes to the Shelby GT500. The exposed radiator helps funnel air and cools the internals of the vehicle systems. The larger splitter helps create downforce when the car hits top speeds.
Engineers faced competing goals of top speed, racetrack performance, cooling and fuel economy, and worked to find a balance that meets all needs. To reduce lift, the team reworked the front upper and lower grilles and developed an integrated air dam. In the rear, a high Gurney flap helps reduce lift.
By reducing drag and creating downforce, the loads and moments on the front fascia increased. CFD pressure maps indicated how much load would be put on the front body and helped confirm that plastic wasn’t deforming, the fasteners could handle it, the body structure could support it and the front end wasn’t sagging.
The new Shelby GT500 driving dynamics have been overhauled, now working in concert with Goodyear tires. New Brembo™ brakes with six-piston calipers in front and the new wheels also required unique suspension tuning to ensure everything works harmoniously.
Handling, all AdvanceTrac® The previously available unique traction control system and electronic stability control settings help drivers achieve maximum performance whether on the street or the track. settings and steering assist levels within selectable steering also have been tuned to account for the updated content on the car.
Both systems can be completely disabled in controlled track situations where maximum driver skill is utilized, or fully engaged for safety during normal driving or in less-than-ideal traction conditions. Intermediate sport mode allows drivers to push their cars hard at the track without completely disabling the safety systems, permitting more aggressive driving before the traction control and electronic stability control systems intervene.
The upgraded Brembo brake system complements the other changes on the 2013 Shelby GT500 for control and fade-free stops in road and race situations. The new system has 380-millimeter front rotors. The rear comes with 350-millimeter rotors. Both are larger than the previous model.
A high-tech, user-friendly launch control system is part of the new functionality on Shelby GT500. The system lets drivers set the tach needle to a desired launch rpm depending on the tire temperature, street surface or other conditions. Floor the throttle and the engine will rev to the preset rpm until the clutch is released, helping with acceleration and vehicle control from a standing start.
Sometimes Ford Shelby GT500 customers want to enjoy their car on surface streets. Other times they just want to let loose on the track. Two new optional packages on the 2013 car give them the choice.
“The adjustable dampers let us develop our car on the track without any compromise,” said Kerry Baldori, Ford SVT Global Performance Vehicles chief engineer. “Before, we had to tune the car with street implications in mind. Now we can go as extreme as we want on the track setting and still offer the customer a comfortable ride on the road.”
Available as part of the optional Performance Package, the feature is accessed on the dash with a simple push of a button. Normal mode gives customers a comfortable ride over road irregularities. Sport mode is all about performance, delivering improved response time on the track, and less body roll while cornering and pitch under braking. A Torsen® limited-slip differential also comes with the Performance Package, which helps the rear suspension deliver torque and traction under the most demanding conditions on the track.
The monotube damper is key in giving drivers fade-free performance for extended hot laps. Typical dampers will fade and soften, so they don’t handle as well – the monotube design prevents that from happening.
SVT worked with Bilstein™ for nearly a year to fine-tune the technology for Shelby GT500, the first production application of the product in North America.
The Torsen limited-slip differential with a 2.8:1 torque bias ratio helps the rear suspension deliver torque and traction under the demanding conditions encountered on the track. The differential is instrumental in improving torque bias so that the level of traction is increased.
Enthusiasts can upgrade their Performance Package with an additional Track Package for all-out racetrack performance. The option comes with an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler for further durability. The cooling package also circulates air from an area of high-pressure stagnation with a low impact to drag and lift. The coolers play an essential role in preventing crucial components from overheating under high-speed conditions.
“The standard cooling systems are more than adequate for spirited driving, but for avid racers or track-day fans, we’ve provisioned for an upgraded cooling package,” said Albers. “It will cool the car in almost any condition and let it live up to its performance capabilities.”
SVT engineering focused on making the coupe with the Track Package completely geared toward racetrack performance. That meant making the suspension have superior control in high-speed turns and dips.
Key to helping Shelby GT500 customers take advantage of all the capability is the new productivity screen. The screen offers menu options, giving the customer important information related to vehicle performance. The menu is navigated through a five-way control button located on the steering wheel. The LCD is positioned between the tachometer and speedometer; the SVT logo greets the customer at key-on.
A dashboard screen provides vehicle status information for important driving parameters such as launch control, AdvanceTrac, selectable steering or the Bilstein damper setting. There’s also a shift light that appears as the SVT logo that illuminates and chimes when the rpm shift is reached.
Also unique to the productivity screen is Track Apps™, which delivers performance metrics for drivers who want to put their car through its paces on the track.
An accelerometer shows the g-force the car is pulling from left to right. Drivers also can track their fastest times with the acceleration timer screen, which offers options including 0-30 mph, 0-60 mph, 0-100 mph, eighth-mile and quarter-mile. Both an automatic start and countdown start complete with a drag racing start light are available.
The brake performance screen indicates stopping time and distance for speeds of 60-0 or 100-0. The view/clear results screen lets drivers take a look at their top times, including their all-time best. They can also review their last results and saved results from the acceleration timer and brake performance screen.
A closer look at the base menu options, each of which can be customized by the customer:

The 2013 Shelby GT500 also includes upgraded cluster features to give drivers even more information. The speedometer is now set to 220 mph and an over-rev feature allows the engine to operate up to 7,000 rpm for eight seconds before decreasing back to 6,250 rpm.
Coupled with that feature is a dual-color tachometer that provides amber warning at redline, when the over-rev feature is engaged. Once the over-rev times out, the redline returns to red.

Escape offers Ford’s broadest nameplate range of EcoBoost® engine choices yet. Strong fuel economy comes from either the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine or 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, which makes its American debut in the new Escape.
Both new engines combine EcoBoost’s core technologies of direct fuel injection and turbocharging and add twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) to deliver even better miles per gallon and save customers money on fuel. The 2.0-liter offers 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 1.6-liter provides 178 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque.
In Escape, EcoBoost engines are mated to a specially calibrated, six-speed SelectShift Automatic® transmissions, which is standard and allow drivers who want more hands-on experiences to manually control gear selection from a switch on the left-hand side of the shifter. The gearbox features a new torque converter for improved driving feel, silky smooth shifts and even better fuel economy. Engineers also installed revised gear ratios for a balanced driving feel in all situations.
The standard engine in North America is an updated 2.5-liter (with 168 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque), giving the new Escape a comprehensive lineup of four-cylinder offerings. It also is matched to a six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission.
Also aiding fuel economy is Escape’s sleeker design. The new model is nearly 10 percent more aerodynamic than the outgoing model.
Plus, the new Escape’s active grille shutter system, which is on all models with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost and 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines, reduces wind resistance. Grille slats stay open when extra engine cooling air is required, such as low-speed stop-and-go driving. When cruising on the highway at steady speeds, the grille slats automatically close to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.
Versatility and capability come standard Stowing and towing are even easier in the new five-passenger Escape, thanks to a low liftover height of 27 inches, more innovations and cargo volume that surpasses the outgoing Escape – with 68.1 cubic feet of space behind the first row and 34.3 cubic feet behind the second row.
The new Escape’s rear seats have been designed to fold flat easily. With the touch of a button, the head restraint folds down and with the lift of a handle on the seat, the seatback folds and dives as the seat folds flat and clicks into position.
Escape also features an available two-position load floor, which can be configured to allow the customer to choose among maximum luggage volume or flat load floor.
When properly equipped, the all-new Escape maintains a trailer tow rating of 3,500 pounds with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
Engaging driving performance through seamless system Using advanced software and sensors, the new Intelligent 4WD System analyzes data from 25 external signals, including wheel speed, accelerator pedal position and steering wheel angle, assessing road conditions and driver input 20 times faster than the blink of an eye.
The system uses all the sensor inputs to turn the vehicle in the direction the driver wants it to go. Intelligent 4WD builds on the pre-emptive actions by adding and subtracting torque as needed through an electromagnetic clutch.

The next generation of the successful Spanish model is here – the new SEAT Ibiza captures the heart with its young, emotional design and fun-to-drive zest, and convinces the head with its innovative technologies and further improved functionality and quality.
Plus, the new line-up offers enormous breadth to meet every individual demand – from the compact and sporty three-door Ibiza SC, to the dynamic and universal five-door Ibiza, to the elegantly practical Ibiza ST estate car.

Beneath its striking design, the new Ibiza offers an impressive array of innovative technologies. The latest-generation state-of-the-art TDI and TSI power units, the DSG transmissions and the start/stop system combine dynamics with exceptional efficiency and guarantee SEAT’s signature driving fun.

Sporty character and high product quality are written all over the new Ibiza’s face – SEAT Design stands for technology and precision, as well as for youthful avant garde. The distinctive centrepiece is the trapezoidal grille featuring the SEAT logo.
The flatter proportions and horizontal honeycomb structure of the grille and the lower air intake emphasize the width of the new Ibiza. The bumpers front and rear have been redesigned with a look that is particularly accentuated on the sporty Ibiza FR version. Standard equipment on the FR and available as an option on the other models are the large fog lamps with integrated cornering lights.
The sophisticated design of the headlamps bears testament to the enormous attention afforded by SEAT to the details. The edgy style of the lamps is a hallmark feature of the new SEAT design language, while being perfectly integrated into the Ibiza’s sculptural form.
The headlamps are available in two halogen versions or with optional bi-xenon lamps and LED daytime running lights. The latter trace the form of the headlamps to deliver a unique light signature, as do the optional LED rear lights (standard on the FR).
From the side, the new Ibiza looks like a precisely hewn sculpture on wheels. The characteristic “Línea Dinámica” runs from the headlamps over the powerfully drawn wheel arches to the rear.
A second, equally sharp character line runs across the muscular rear shoulders to the rear lamps. These powerful lines and the interplay of taut surfaces lend the Ibiza an athletic character – on both the three-door sports coupé and the universal five-door.
And even the functional estate car conveys an unmatched look of dynamism – without any restriction to its exceptional utility. The self-confident design of the rear end gives the Ibiza ST a very powerful sign-off.
The roof-edge spoiler with integrated third brake light protrudes a little beyond the large rear windscreen. The rear lights emphasise the width of the vehicle with their horizontal, inward running design. At the spot where their extended lines meet is the large SEAT logo that – as on the five-door and SC, too – serves as the handle for the rear hatch.
The efficiency highlight is the Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive with an average fuel consumption of just 3.4 litres/100 km. This equates to a first-class CO2 figure of 89 grams/km – in all bodyshell variants.
Yet the compact hi-tech TDI delivers attractive performance with its 55 kW (75 hp) and its highly respectable torque of 180 Newton metres. The Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive is fitted as standard with start/stop technology that contributes to fuel saving without the driver having to make a conscious effort.
When the car stops at a red light, for instance, and the driver goes into neutral, the start/stop system switches the engine off. As soon as the clutch pedal is depressed again, the engine immediately restarts automatically. The car is also equipped with a recuperation system that regenerates energy during every braking manoeuvre. This reduces the load on the engine and lowers fuel consumption.
The efficient Aerodynamic package on the Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive incorporates an enclosed radiator grille and a lower air intake that optimises airflow within the engine compartment. It also includes a 40 millimetre longer front spoiler, a spoiler on the rear hatch, special deflectors on the rear wheel arches and 15-inch wheels with closed covers.
These modifications result in a drag coefficient of 0.30. A shift recommendation display and slightly increased tyre pressure (2.9 bar front, 2.7 bar rear) complete the efficiency savings package of the Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive.
The equipment lines of the Ibiza range have also been revised, independent of bodyshell form. The base model Reference makes a compelling argument with all the key comfort and safety features. Above it is the Style version, which comes with air conditioning as standard. The Ibiza FR sets particularly sporty accents with expressive design elements front and rear, alloy wheels and a leather-clad steering wheel.
The FR version of the new Ibiza is available in all bodyshell variants with the 1.2 TSI (77 kW/105 hp) or 1.4 TSI (110 kW/150 hp) petrol engines, or the 1.6 TDI CR (77 kW/105 hp) diesel. Reserved exclusively for the Ibiza SC FR and Ibiza FR is the 2.0 TDI CR (105 kW/143 hp) diesel. And every Ibiza can be adapted perfectly to suit personal style and individual preferences with an extensive range of colours, options and accessories.
The Ibiza runs on redesigned wheels ranging from 14 to 17 inches in diameter. For the Reference line, these are 14-inch steel wheels with 175/70 tyres; for Style, there are 15-inch steel wheels with 185/60 tyres. The new Ibiza FR runs on 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 215/45 tyres.
SEAT offers sophisticated alloy wheel designs as options for all equipment versions – 15-inch for Reference, 16-inch for Style and, for the FR, even a 17-inch model. All tyres have been optimised for rolling resistance without compromising on comfort, safety and handling characteristics.
The new SEAT Ibiza is built for all global markets entirely at the state-of-the-art SEAT plant in Martorell near Barcelona. The new generation of the Ibiza will also be introduced in China in 2012.
SEAT’s combination of young, dynamic design-driven attributes with state-of-the-art technology, quality and precision – as epitomised by the Ibiza – will be well appreciated by discerning Chinese car-buyers.

One Millionth Chrysler Pentastar V-6 Engine Produced at Trenton Engine
Just 18 months following the start of production as the standard engine for the 2010 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, the one millionth Pentastar V-6 engine was assembled today at the Chrysler Group’s Trenton (Mich.) Engine Assembly Plant.
“The Pentastar engine is a cornerstone of Chrysler Group’s effort to reinvent its business model with world class quality products. This award-winning engine is proof that the Company is transforming it products to meet the needs of our customers,” said Brian Harlow, Vice President, Head of Powertrain Manufacturing, Chrysler Group LLC. “To build one million of anything, and in an impressively short amount of time, is a significant achievement. But to do it with such a high degree of quality is a testament to our skilled and dedicated workforce at both Trenton South and Saltillo engine plants.”
The 60-degree, V-6 engine, the most advanced six-cylinder ever produced by Chrysler, is now available in 11 vehicles across the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep® lineup and available in front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive configurations. Depending on the vehicle, engines are tuned for specific applications with horsepower ranging from 283 on front-wheel-drive models and up to 305 horsepower on the sporty Dodge Challenger. The all-aluminum engine is standard or available on the Chrysler, 200, 300 and Town and Country; Dodge Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Durango, Journey and Caravan.
For 2012, the 3.6-liter engine also is standard with Jeep® Wrangler and provides 285 horsepower – an increase of 40 percent over last year’s model. Torque is up 10 percent to 260 lb. ft. and highway fuel efficiency is improved to 21 miles per gallon (mpg) on the 2012 model.
Engineered to meet a variety of requirements, the Pentastar V-6 engine also is the exclusive engine used with the new eight-speed automatic transmission on the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 models. The new engine and transmission combination deliver 31 mpg on the highway.
Just recently, the Pentastar V-6 repeated as one of the “10 Best Engines” following evaluation and testing by editors of Ward’s Automotive magazine.
Despite the impressive gains in power, the engine is designed to run on regular 87 octane gasoline. It also is capable of running on alternate fuels including E85.

In this respect, Fiat announces that effective immediately its subsidiaries will no longer carry out business activity related to products or components where the ultimate destination of such products is known to be Iran, other than to the limited extent required to fulfill already existing binding obligations.
Sales to Iran based entities during past years by Fiat’s subsidiaries were totally immaterial in a quantitative and qualitative sense and any concerned products were sold for commercial and civilian use only.
Fiat’s subsidiaries having commercial relations with Iranian entities always conducted their businesses in compliance with all applicable laws.

When the Volkswagen CC made its debut four years ago, it was the first four-door coupé in the 30,000 to 40,000 euro class.
From this niche, a new segment quickly developed — to date, nearly 270,000 people around the globe have chosen the sedan with the stylish lines of a sports car.
They are car drivers who love the charm of a coupé but also value space for at least 4 persons and 4 doors.
Now, Volkswagen is presenting a technically and visually updated version of the popular business vehicle.
Volkswagen is set to reveal an R-Line version of the newly-redesigned 2013 CC June 1. “With interior and exterior enhancements, the R-Line upgrades make the CC an even sportier vehicle,” the automaker says in a press release. The 2013 CC R-Line will be available by the end of 2012.
Under the hood, the CC R-Line has the same drivetrain as the base CC Sport, which features a 200-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and either a six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With new front and rear styling, the new perfected Volkswagen CC makes an even bolder move towards the automotive luxury class.
Its extended range of standard features has become more exclusive as well; they now include new bi-xenon headlights, static cornering lights and a new LED tail light design. Also standard: fatigue detection, RCD 310 radio-CD system, stainless steel door sill plates and safety head restraints with additional longitudinal adjustment (front seats).
New assistance systems are making their way into the CC as well. They include optional technologies such as Side Assist Plus with integrated Lane Assist (warns of vehicles in blind spots and assists driver in avoiding an accident by steering intervention), Dynamic Light Assist (automatic main beam control) that is new in the Volkswagen CC and a camera- based traffic sign detection system. The Volkswagen CC will be powered by innovative petrol and diesel direct-injection engines; all of the diesels (TDI) are equipped with a Stop/Start system and battery regeneration mode (for recovering braking energy) as standard.
All petrol engines also have battery regeneration functionality. The TDI engines output 103 kW / 140 PS and 125 kW / 170 PS. The petrol engines of the European CC versions develop a sporty 118 kW / 160 PS, 155 kW / 210 PS and 220 kW / 300 PS of power.
In the USA, the Volkswagen will once again launch with petrol engines that output 147 kW / 200 PS (TSI) and 206 kW / 280 PS (FSI). All engines go to work with excellent efficiency. A prime example is the 140 PS TDI. Together with a manual six-speed gearbox, its combined fuel consumption is just 4.7 l/100 km (equivalent to 125 g/km CO 2).
In addition to unique exterior styling, the 2013 CC R-Line will offer standard rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic climate control, heated power-adjustable front seats and an eight-speaker touch-screen stereo with HD Radio, a six-disc CD changer and Bluetooth and iPod connections.
The 2013 Volkswagen CC competes against upscale midsize cars like the 2012 Buick Regal, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. “This will be the fourth trim level in the CC lineup, in addition to the Sport, Lux and Executive versions,” says Edmunds.
Pricing for the CC R-Line has yet to be announced, but the base 2013 Volkswagen CC Sport is on sale now with a starting price of $30,250 plus an $820 destination fee.
The new Volkswagen CC will be revealed to the public in a world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show (November 18 to 27).
The market launch phase begins shortly thereafter. Volkswagen will first offer the new CC in Germany in February 2012, then in stages across Europe, America, Russia, China (local version starting in 2013) and all other sales regions relevant to this vehicle class.
The facelifted Passat CC will be launched in Germany in February and should see production in the US as well.
